Hehehehehe~ I enjoy vamperisum. It can mange it pretty well since I know what to equip my character with if I plan on being bit by a vampire on a set file run. I always go for a 40% or higher Fire Resistance item and a Stamina Regen item of 20% or higher to help me. I depend on the Royal Armor for the 127% Magic Regen for combat. This set up makes Daytime Combat much more manageable~
Nab it! *gives Dash a sack* Yeah, daytime vampireing sucks. Still better than in Oblivion though... I assume you've got the Dawnguard DLC then? Serana's the best!
Yeah, I do have the Dawnguard DLC. Well, the set up I just explained covers all the critical bases for being able survive the Daytime. I can opt to Potions or Healing Magic for Health. It makes dealing with a lot of enemies during the day easier without being worried about being permanently drained till night, since you can't regen Health, Stamina, and Magic as a vampire normally during the day. Thinking about it, I'm being rather technical about being a Vampire. Having a Fire Resistance item cancels out the Fire Weakness to some extent, the Stamina Regen item guarantees my stamina recovery if I'm forced into Close Range combat, and the Royal Armor covers my Spellcasting both offensively and defensively. Also, yeah. Serana is one of the coolest partners that get shoved into your possession. I'm not much for having partners but Serana at least pulls her part of the weight. I don't mind having her along at all. Her magic by far being the best part since I can close range enemies while Serana covers the ranged magic combat. The one thing I don't like is when she steals kills that I need to upgrade my Vampire Lord mantel.
I prefer Dunmer for Vampires, 'cause they have natural fire resistance anyway, and just because Dunmer are cool. Vampire's Sight means you don't really have to go out in the day anyway, but your setup would be handy if you did... At least you don't actively take damage from sunlight like in Oblivion though; that killed me sooo much. I like Serana because they obviously put a lot more effort into her than into any other companion; she says more, has more idle animations and actually has a backstory, as well as actually being worth a damn in a fight. As for getting vampire kills, just get Serana to wait somewhere, then do one of the Civil War fortress attacks; loads of low-level fodder!
That is a interesting idea, but where is the challenge in that? Having resistance to a weakness you gain from vamperisum is kind cheating a bit, though it's legal cheesing. Actually, if you have the Vampire Lord mantel and are currently in the state of Vampire Lord during the day, your health does drain slowly, thus making it a question of if you should risk it. That is true. But half the time I don't even think about stopping Serana just before combat, though it would help with me getting more perks for my Vampire Lord mantel. I'm not making too much of a big deal over it since you are only stuck with her few times during the Dawngaurd stuff and you have the option to have her with you or not when it's all done. I choose to leave her behind for more important stuff like the Thieves Guild and the Dark Brotherhood, where having a partner would be more cumbersome than necessary.
I try to avoid taking Serana into combat in places where I go a lot, because she raises zombies constantly and the ash piles look terrible. Not as much an issue now that I'm playing on the PC, but still annoying.
That's the other thing I don't like. She raises the dead even though wanted to check out what that body had, but Nope! Serana says that raising that person is more important.
I saw I mod a few months back that removed the zombie spell from Serana. I might have to get it one of these days.
