It depends on how you're thinking of RP. In general it isn't difficult, but if one wants to do it well, it can become incredibly challenging because there are so many things to consider. >Making a character >Making sure that character is balanced >Making sure the character is believable >Getting in character >STAYING in character >Helping to drive the plot forward without taking the leash completely >Picking up on subtle details >Dropping your own little clues >Not godmodding The list goes on.
