Thanksgiving is the time to pretend to be thankful for what you have. The next day is hoarding all the cheap stuff you can lay your fingers on. It creates a balance.
They should really have thanksgiving after all the sales, that way everyone can be thankful for all the stuff they just bought. It'd be a tad less hypocritical too.
