I just thought I'd make a little discussion on how you can change if you are an admin or an owner in a community.
Before I was the owner of my community I was a lot more happy and joyful and had a sort of bouncy personality and I always said if I was ever an admin I would stay the same.

I have noticed that is not true, since the start of my community I have slowly changed and become more serious and speak as if I'm just some automated system at times and I find it difficult to be my old self because them I'm just trying to force it.
I also notice I get stressed a lot more because I have more to worry about but when I was just a user I was sitting in the sidelines happy and joyful.

Anyone else been through this before or is it just something happening to me?

A few of us have been through this, you are not alone.

It just sort of comes with a shift in perspective, the burden of responsibility and an array of other factors. Stress eats at you day to day, make sure you're giving yourself sufficient time away from working on the site, or from the site entirely if needed.

It's pretty much what Berry said.

Becoming an Admin means you give up the casual enjoyment of a website and take up volunteer work, and that's the key bit here to keep in mind: it's work.

You're likely acting more serious because you recognize you're in a position of power and you also probably see it as a job - someone in your position is more or less expected to be seen as a shining example of that community. Which is good, it shows you take the job seriously. Too many people like taking these positions because they feel the need to be a part of some exclusive club or they just like the prestige. That was my mistake, and it kicked my ass around for a while, though I still tried my hardest.

When I was an admin for this site the same thing happened to me for a while, but you sort of learn how to work around it.

Doing a lot of stuff off site with people from the site helps you feel less automated. It's hard to feel automated in an atmosphere in which the entire point is to have fun - and this feeling will transfer over to the site over time.

I think that's why I enjoy Everypony more than PonyTheaters.
I come here for fun and friends and laughs ect where as over on PonyTheaters it's sort of like my job to be there and for most a job feels less enjoyable.

I can confirm the same thing, I've been quite more mature since I joined the staff team on some forum, especially when I am acting in that role. I don't know how much that maturing is due to the staff position and how much due to growing up, as that happened side-by-side.

And yes, maintaining a site is definilly work, but work that is IMO worth it. It can only get annoying if script-kiddies are having some "fun".....

Oh god the script kiddies are what stress me out, had a few trying to take down my Gmod servers for no reason other than "we don't like ponies therefor we will take away your servers"
