She got down below and slipped through the crowd quickly as she made her way to the front towards the clashing groups of people.
She got to the front of the line, pushing back at an officer who was attacking a civilian, putting her weight into the shove.
The civilian had time to escape, ducking away. Abel grabbed her arm. "Ophelia, what are you doing down here?"
She tensed as he grabbed her, jerking her head over to look at him. She relaxed when she saw it was him. "It's completely out of control. There's no point in me staying up there."
He let her go, stepping back slightly with a nod. "Fine," he said over the roar of the crowd, "just be caref-" A loud shot rang out, and Abel was forced back as bullet tore through his shoulder, causing him to stumble. Blood spattered onto the cement below them. The crowd quickly dispersed away from him, where three more rapidly rang out, hitting him twice in one leg, on the the thigh and knee, and once close to the hip on the other. This caused him to fall, blood still seeping out of his shoulder. He tried to get up, but failed, quickly scanning the buildings and pulling out a gun he had kept hidden, aiming up and downing the sniper with one shot. He dropped the gun, his head falling back. This seemed to made to crowd rave with a new wave of anger, fighting back against the assailants with wrath.
Ophelia screamed when the shots hit him and kneeled down next to him, her hands immediately on the wounds. "*squee!*. *squee!*, *squee!*, *squee!*, *squee!*. Abel? Can you hear me? Abel, it's Ophelia. It's me. It's Ophelia."
Strangely enough, his legs didn't seem to bleeding, but his shoulder certainly was. He groaned, his hand over his shoulder as he sucked in through his teeth. "We have to get back to the house. I.. I might have a hard time walking. I need your help."
She seemed relieved that he was still conscious and able to talk to her, but she looked absolutely terrified, her hands shaking. "Of course. Of course. Come on, let's get you up."
She braced herself, letting him lean against her. He would be able to feel that she was trembling, but she tried to hide it, wrapping one arm around his waist as she steadied him against her hip. "Okay. You okay?"
She began to move, trying to go as quickly as he was able (HA) and keeping to back roads to try to avoid confrontation.
"Yeah, of course," she said hastily, fighting to keep the tremor out of her voice. She moved him towards his bedroom, pulling one of her hands away for a moment to open the door.
