She considered this, squeezing his hand gently. "We'll be sneaky," she told him quietly. "We'll get more information and then we'll retaliate."
She looked over at him, studying him. "Don't worry for today," she told him. "You've been through enough. Just let yourself be calm for a day."
She watched him for a moment, her brow furrowed before she looked back down at their hands, saying nothing.
She looked up at him, her brow furrowing as she watched him. "I..." She looked away for a moment, looking embarrassed, pulling her hand back self-consciously. "I'm so glad you're around, Abel."
She seemed to be avoiding his gaze, rubbing the back of her own hand that he was just holding nervously. She sighed, leaning back against the couch. “I just... I think the world of you,” she said very quietly. “Really.”
He looked conflicted, his hands folding. "I really like you, O. I care about you. I don't want anything bad to happen to you."
She looked confused, looking up at him finally, her brow furrowing. “What do you mean? Nothing bad is going to happen to me.”
She laughed lightly, resting her head on his shoulder tiredly. “But it did happen, Abes. We could both die at any moment. We just got lucky this time.”
She closed her eyes, feeling herself relax a little as she placed her hand on his chest. “You don’t have to worry right now,” she said quietly.
She turned her face into his chest, her fingers resting against him. “We can just be here for a while, okay?” she asked quietly, feeling his heartbeat under her hand. “We can get back to work tomorrow but right now, we can just be with each other.”
