Not sure if you missed the joke...or if you were just calling him out on it... Lol I've heard about 4 chan, never been on it but I've heard mainly of their exploits that become well known on the internet. Mainly the bad ones. I've never really been on it so I really don't have an opinion.
If I was forced to say something nice aboot 4Chan... the /asp/ board has some amusing wrestling threads.
4 Chan is pretty great. It's basically ********: the website. Which is, depending on your preferences, possibly the best thing.
4chan is a large collection of fairly tight-knit communities that are largely independent from one another. The most infamous of these communities cover the entire series of pornographic boards, make the /b/ (random / shock images) channel their home, and their antics give 4chan a horrible name. /b/ is (almost) solely responsible for everyone's hatred towards the site. Most every other member of 4chan hates /b/. Since they are the very symbol of "Internet anonymity", 4chan users can get pretty chaotic and devil-may-care. The infamous Internet group "Anonymous" use 4chan as one of their bases of operations, but the majority of 4chan users are clearly not members of Anonymous, unless they are very good at acting inept. 4chan is also the origin of the term "brony", and I believe it is solely responsible for the show becoming popular among adult men. The term was meant to be self-deprecating humor, similar to 4chan's habit of sticking "-***" on the end of things. I indirectly know the individual who coined it, and he is ashamed to the point I'm sure he wishes to remain unnamed. I don't recommend going on 4chan unless you're a fairly jaded person who tends to laugh at unbelievably horrible people rather than be repulsed by them.
It's a place for internet elitists. /b/ is where middle school bullies go to keep being bullies even after school is done for the day. ON the whole, it seems like a pit of post-modernism, and I hate that ****.
Mixed feelings, you gotta choose the right boards. /b/ is only good for the fact you can say pretty much anything with no repercussions. I don't spend much time around it, just lurk sometimes. I prefer Reddit a lot more.
I used to frequent the site, mainly /co/ for a while. There's a lot of interesting stuff to gauge at and keep you occupied, but only if you enjoy whatever subject you're looking for. Getting too sucked into the general boardculture is practically a deathtrap, and can really suck any any enjoyment from the site you might've had. That being said, /mlp/ has a pretty peachy community if you find the right threads and right people. A lot of their roleplay threads are the funniest I'd ever been apart of. Overall IMO 4chan is good entertainment so long as you don't take the whole site too seriously.
I've been browsing /b/ on a daily base for almost 8 years now. It's interesting, the board culture is pretty much unique and anything goes. Not for those sensitive to.. well, anything, or people that get offended easily, but if you're okay with some bad things you might end up enjoying it.
I thought I was the only one. I like /b/ because I like to go to the image dump threads, but mainly because it's fun to laugh at all the stupid people on these threads. There are a lot of shock and pornographic images on /b/ (hell, it's almost unavoidable, either as a thread, or as a casual reply). But once you get past that, it's not that bad.
