I can't believe this isn't up yet. http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/12/us/orlando-nightclub-shooting/ On June 12th at roughly 2 in the morning, a gunman came into the gay club called pulse, and opened fire. He killed about 50 people, and injured 50 more. Thoughts?
Last to Post isn't probably a good place to discuss things, let's be honest. Here, at least people know that they're entering into serious conversation, and not forum games.
Wow, I've been hearing so much about this all over the news. From what I heard, it was one of the worst shootings in U.S history.
There is no much to say about the tragedy itself. But I wonder what will be the consequences. And in particular, this event may change the course of approaching elections.
I am short on time at the moment, but it didn't take long for politicians to use the victims for their own cynical purposes. Trump is using them to push his anti-Muslim agenda, and Clinton is using them to push her anti-gun agenda. In either case, the actions of one lunatic are being used to judge an entire group of people, whether they be Muslims or gun owners. Don't expect any of this vitriol to stop, as politicians from both major parties need a scapegoat to divert attention away from their failures.
I was about to talk about Trump and Clinton using this tragedy to jack their egos, but M14 ninja'd me, so. Also, all the people who say things along the line of, "While I disagree with the homosexual life style..." Need to *squee* right off. You say gays have their rights, but in Orlando gay people couldn't even donate blood to the victims. In Orlando conversion therapy is legal. In Orlando you can be fired or evicted for being gay. Don't #PrayForOrlando, #DoSomethingAboutIt.
People down here seem to be coming together over this. The blood banks are so filled up with people trying to donate that they've started asking people to make appointments to come in.
can you believe that there are Christians who are praising the shooter for killing the homosexuals? what are the Satanists doing? it's funny what people considered evil.
Yeah. I've seen it too. I'm in a very conservative neighbourhood, and I've heard jackasses say terrible stuff like, "The gays reaped what they sowed" Honestly, these kinds of people are horrible and would be better off if they were dead. Every religions has nutcases, but that doesn't make me hate the people in it, it just makes me hate the religion.
I totally understand where you're coming from although it's the other way around for me. I see nothing inherently wrong with religion just the people who are in it. I view religion less of a guideline and more of an inspiration to a way of life. some people don't understand that these religions formed at A Primitive time, where people had a less understanding of the world. To fallow the scriptures to a Te would be ridiculous, but in that case, why be in the religion in the first place. no I'm not an atheist. I kind of see how I'm making it sound that religion is just mythology
sadly this is a thing that's happening. there are a lot of anti-gays, majority being Christians, singing how they are glad that "God let this happen and at least no one innocent got hurt". I thought it was Satan supposed to let bad things happen! but then again ,Satan also isn't inherently evil.
What can I really say about it? Another mass shooting. A new record this time. New high *squee!*ing score. Not sure what makes Americans so violent as to do this constantly. But it doesn't matter. We will talk of what we think should be changed, and as per usual, nothing will change. People will exploit the deaths of 50 people to try and push some agenda, but it won't go anywhere. Like a broken record.
Poor mental healthcare and abundant access to firearms? According to this article, the guy was mentally unstable, was possibly motivated by his inability to come to terms with his own sexuality, and had pledged allegiance it ISIS. At the time of his death, he was working as a security guard, and had a licence for concealed carry. This is not a good combination.
Let's not forget that it took 3 hours for SWAT teams to decide to breach the building, even after the shooter pledged allegiance to ISIS.
Well, would you look at that. Forty-nine people and one terrorist *squee!*bag dead, fifty-three wounded, and all that this *squee!* managed to accomplish was the creation of more hatred and distrust towards Muslims, and a new excuse for the Democrats to demand even more gun control.
