(Just making sure, Avice is placing her hand over her own heart?) Jack put his arm to his head in a swoon. "You're mocking me at my lowest moment."
(Oh, there was a typo. Yes, she was placing her hand over her own heart.) "I've been known to do that." Avice stuck out her tongue and winked.
(Gotcha. Oh, and @Starlight Speedster and @Proxy, let me know when you guys want to time skip in your scenes. I can't bring us all together until we're all on the same time zone. ) He rolled his eyes goodnaturedly. After a moment's pause, he turned to look at Avice. "Have you ever been in the crows nest?"
He took the hand and stood up. "Thanks. I have to stop by my quarters really quickly before we go up though. Ellis's been complaining about some problem with the roping up there, and I need to grab some tools. Is that okay?"
(Nah, you're good!) "Okay," he said, brushing off his shirt. "Be safe. I'll be right back." He turned, and set off at a swift pace. Jack's room was tidy, with mainly essentials. A desk lay in the corner, with two trunks with books and references, and chest of drawers. Besides from a map of the world, the walls remained largely undecorated. He crossed the room in two strides, and made it to the opposite wall, where he had put up hooks for rope, cloaks, and anything else. He took off two ropes bunches, and then turned to open a drawer. He pulled out a small brown case, holding a dagger, some cloth, and twine, among other things. He also took his spyglass, just in case. He returned to Avice quickly, grinning. "I haven't been up there in a while," he said, obviously excited. "You ready to go?"
"I'm not quite sure," he said, frowning. "Apparently a couple ropes snapped, or something, and it's making the ladder a little unwieldy. It's safe to go up, it just takes a little longer."
"It should be, I think," he said. They arrived to the bottom of the net, the ropes well used by the countless hands that had climbed them. He looked over at her. "Do you want to go first, or do you want me to?"
She would hear him laugh softly as she began climbing. "Is this because I called you a chicken earlier?" Jack asked, climbing up after her.
Avice looked at him, rolling her eyes. "No, it's because I was worried you would be a slow climber." She said sarcastically, a joking look on her face.
He laughed lowly. "Good one." They were up rather high at this point. The sun reflected off the ocean, and the people on the deck shrunk with every rung they took."
