so, ok, we know that Celestia and Luna were controlling Elements of harmony before main 6. so, since there's 2 of them and 6 of elements, I guess it was 3 + 3 elements on Luna and Celestia. but which ones were who's? my guess: Laughter defiantly goes to Celestia (doesn't need explaining) Kindness I'd give to Celestia (she seems more kind to her subjects then Luna who showed she can flip out (referring on "Bird in Hoof" for Celestia and "Luna Eclipse" for Luna) Generosity to Luna ( She seems more keen of being in touch with common people and giving herself to other ponies) Magic I'd give to Celestia (she seems to have stronger magic than Luna). Honesty goes to Luna (Luna always seemed to be very open with her feelings, and honest, while Celestia seems always like she's holding some info back). Loyalty to Luna (Even if she got corrupted, and wanted to have eternal night, she was still loyal to Equestrians, and wanting to serve them. ) so Luna: Loyalty, Honesty and Generosity Celestia: Laughter, Magic and Kindness what's your guess?
Luna: Laughter, Honesty and Generosity Celestia: Loyalty, Magic and Kindness I'd only change two of them around. I think this should be addressed in the series. It be a cool episode to have Celestia tell a story of the past.
Celestia managed to use all of the elements on Nightmare Moon originally. As such, if both controlled the elements, it should be safe to say that they were both able to use all of the elements. Oui?
^ i could watch that gif forever. My question is why did celestia give them up in the first place after banishing nightmare moon.
so little bump on this thread because it's berried among old threads, and well, I'd like to see what some newer members think about it so my opinion is still same: Laughter defiantly goes to Celestia (doesn't need explaining) Kindness I'd give to Celestia (she seems more kind to her subjects then Luna who showed she can flip out (referring on "Bird in Hoof" for Celestia and "Luna Eclipse" for Luna) Generosity to Luna ( She seems more keen of being in touch with common people and giving herself to other ponies) Magic I'd give to Celestia (she seems to have stronger magic than Luna). Honesty goes to Luna (Luna always seemed to be very open with her feelings, and honest, while Celestia seems always like she's holding some info back). Loyalty to Luna (Even if she got corrupted, and wanted to have eternal night, she was still loyal to Equestrians, and wanting to serve them. ) so Luna: Loyalty, Honesty and Generosity Celestia: Laughter, Magic and Kindness
The way I see it is that each Princess had the power to control them all, but to keep that power limited, they were divided among the two. Perhaps there is more to the story of Luna's banishment and that her elements were revoked* by Celestia, and that she had hidden Luna's along with her own, away in their former Castle Of The Royal Pony Sisters for safekeeping in case they were needed again. The story behind Twilight Sparkle is that she was destined to wield the element of Magic from the start. Her cutie mark represents her element surrounded by the other 5. Celestia had known that Nightmare Moon would return, had seen Twilight's gift during the display of her magic in school, and had decided taken her as her student, sealing the deal. After some formal training, she had sent Twilight to Ponyville with the task of making friends, for the purpose of finding the elements to stop Nightmare Moon. With that said, it seems to me that once the elements are given up or taken away, they can never be used by that pony again. Otherwise Celestia could have just simply used the elements herself to stop Nightmare Moon. Other evidence of this is how Celestia said she is powerless to stop Discord because the elements can no longer be controlled by her. So now that the mane six wield the elements, together they are more powerful than the Princesses. And since they were divided among the mane six, it seems to me that once Celestia and Luna step down, perhaps all of the mane six will become Equestria's new leaders. And only together can they keep Equestria under control. *Possible hole in this explanation: What gives Celestia the ability to revoke the elements from Luna? Perhaps they weren't revoked, and that Luna had given them up on her own. Perhaps the elements weren't divided among the sisters at all, and that Celestia had control over them. Moving the Sun and Moon have nothing to do with the Elements of Harmony. Since Luna is younger and less experienced, perhaps she wasn't allowed to wield any of the elements.
