"I'll eat it since I'm here," says Rashall thinking for a little bit, "So are you still not able to control the transfermations?" He asks between bites.
"Well, I've been able to hold them back for a bit, but for the most part they have a mind of their own. If I'm the Mermare for a long time, I'm normally a regular pony for a long time. It likes to have equal times, I guess." Marina says, swallowing a spoonful of oatmeal.
Rashall thinks for a moment before saying, "I think I know of a way to help you control the changes completely."
"Hm? Oh, thanks. But living out here, my friends are the only ones that visit. So it isn't a problem. But I'd like to hear your theory." Marina says, interested.
"There's a tidal pool I'm looking for near here, though that was not why I came out here in the first place, but now I remember it clearly," says Rashall.
"Sorry to go off topic, but then why did you come out here? Not to be rude, but not many ponies visit." Marina asks.
"Heh funny story behind that, the ponies, wolves and griffins in the Shadowed Forest, the place where I live, said I needed a vacation. So I came here seeing as they wouldn't let me say no, not to mention I've been just about everywhere else save the beach," says Rashall rubbing the back of his head.
"Ah. The beach is pretty nice. But one more question. Do you know how to swim?" Marina says, looking up from her spoon.
"Heh. Sorry. I just wanted to know. I had to teach pretty much everpony I now, so if they visit and I'm stuck in the water, they can just swim around with me. N-Not that you need to or anything.." Marina trails off.
Rashall just smiles finishing his breakfast, "So you want to help me find that tidal pool I was talking about earlier?" He asks wondering what Marina would say.
"Hhm.. Sure. I don't appear to be busy today. But I hope it's close, I don't now when I'll transform." Marina agrees, finishing her oatmeal.
"I'll meet you outside once you're ready," says Rashall before stepping outside. He quickly takes to the sky disappearing above the clouds in a mater of seconds before reappearing above the beach.
"Alright all indications point that the pool is to the north a ways surrounded by pine trees," says Rashall, "I'll keep to the air above you while you keep to the water," he adds before flying slowly but surely northwards.
Rashall kept going and the miles started to pass by, before long a coniferous forest could be seen on the coast line with rocky cliffs protruding out from underneath the trees as though the land here had just dropped off into the sea. Rashall saw the little inlet and made for it quickly, a bit too quickly, he clipped his wing on rock sticking out from the side of the cliff at the mouth of the inlet and hit the ground hard enough to break his right wing. The pain was so intense that Rashall blacked out on a small sand bar at the mouth of the inlet.
While following Rashall, she saw him suddenly speed toward a small cliff. She galloped to try to match his speed, but stopped as he grazed against a large rock and crash into the cliff. Marina continued to gallop, but felt her legs itch. "No, no, no!" Marina shouted at herself, running forward. But it was unbearable. She swerved to her left into the water. She didn't even wait for her tail to completely form. She shot forward towards the base of the inlet. Just before she hit it, she leaped out of the water and grabbed onto a rock. She struggled to pull herself up. When she did, she began pulling herself towards Rashall's limp body. His wing was bent at an odd angle, and he appeared to be in pain. Marina grew weak, too weak to continue pulling herself. "You. Stupid. TAIL!" Marina yelled at no one. Her horn glowed, and her tail disappeared and her legs appeared in a white flash. She stumbled over to Rashall and took his wing in her hooves. She cringed at the way it's muscles were knotted and bent.
