Alvin looked up from the screen as he heard ADAM talk. He slowly stood up from his chair and took his glasses off, making sure what he was seeing was real. He was shocked that it was actually real. Then he felt torn between the pride and fear of what he helped create.
Jack eyes open widely, completely impressed by ADAM. He couldn't say anything, he didn't new why, but he had a bad feeling about it.
"Introduce yourself to our guests." The scientist said. "My name is ADAM, named after the biblical character from the Christian religious text, the Bible, from the book of Genesis. I was created to become a forerunner for mankind's progress since my activation, roughly forty seconds ago this morning, on April 19th 2036 at precisely 9.42am. My intelligence is to be used to help guide mankind to a prosperous future." The AI told the huge group of people in the room and around the world, his male yet distinctively mechanical voice as soothing as the sweetest of honey. "And to all of those watching on their television sets, or listening to their radios, I humbly make myself a servant of your people." The room then suddenly burst into an applause, all the while reporters quickly tried to ask ADAM and the scientists questions. "holy ****...it actually works...WOOHOO!" he started bouncing up and down without realizing the security cameras.
ADAM was asked all sorts of questions, and he responded to all of them in a polite and intelligent matter. It seemed that the Scientist's did more then just create a simple AI, they would ultimately create much more...
Alvin flopped back in his chair and watched as the creation he helped make answer with such poise and ease. As much as he wanted to question it, he decided to let the press have their field day with it. He looked back down the screen before noticing something, a small box with the words "Transfer Complete" on it. No one was allowed to make data transfers today, he thought before it hit him. "Oh ****..." he mumbled before looking up, observing the crowd.
Some little words where blinking in the screen of his prosthetic arm. 'Transfer complete' they said. Jack smirked as soon as he saw those words. His work there was done, yet he kept seeing the cameras to see their reaction. He moved the files to an USB connected to his arm. He unplugged it once he finished.
Adrian was gone. Like a ghost, he was not noticed until quite a bit after he left. He remembered: Adrian, being the man he was, gave no sign of being impressed, though, after all, he did wear a mask. Green eyes peered deep from within, and noticed something a little funny on the computer. He was being hacked. But he was a genius. He pulled out a portable drive from his pocket, and plugged it in. The USB was capable of uploading a dummy file onto the hacker's system, and not long after, it opened itself and caused all commands to go insane and ultimately fry whatever tool was being used not too long after. It was something he was working on during a project he dubbed "Project Carcossa." And here he was not too far behind the intruder, blank yellow mask still on. In one hand was a book he was often seen with: The King in Yellow. In the other... a straight razor. At the moment, he was not noticed, being deceptively stealthy for his size. And now, he was about to let off some steam.....
Jack was seeing the security cameras and saw Adrian in them not so far away from him. He just played dumb and made like if he hadn't saw him, solwy grabbing a handgun he had with him. He had never killed somewone else, but there was a first time for anything...
Alex was having a blast seeing the new A.I in action. he just kept on looking around in astonishment but he immediately stopped when he noticed Adrain who was basically across the room from him and noticed Jack. "oh...****..." he knew trying to tell anyone would get him shot as well so he did one thing that probably would've turned out better if he thought for a few more seconds. he immediately rushed after Jack and tackled him,sending Jack's handgun flying far out of reach. "what the hell are you doing here?" he pinned Jack to the ground to make sure he didn't try anyting funny.
"Get off me...!" Jack said to him as he pushed him away with his prosthetic arm, giving him a small boost of strength, yet not that harmful for Alex. He stood up and quickly got away from him, grabbed his gun, pointed it at him. "I just came here to get something of mine." he said with a smirk.
Alvin watched from the desk before reaching down and opening a drawer, pulling out a pistol he kept hidden. If his upbringing in the Bronx taught him anything, it's to always be packing for any situation. This was quite a situation. He stood up and aimed his pistol at the armed man. "Put the god damn gun down now!" He yelled in his most commanding voice.
ADAM, although trying to entertain his guests that made up the large room, managed to take control of the situation from across the building. He not only managed to recover the files that were stolen from him, but deleted them on the "attackers" terminal before managing to overpower them effortlessly that easily destroyed the hackers terminal system, and everything connected to it. Once the terminal was destroyed, he remotely controlled three heavily armed police robots that were all armed with Light-Machine guns. They came into the room and were about to deal with this wannabee terrorist.
"Crap..." Jack said to himself as soon as he saw he was basically surrounded by those... things. He slowly dropped his gun and put his arms up. He easily concealed his prosthesis making it look just like a normal one. Fortunately for him he had a copy in a USB that was hidden in the prosthesis, at least he didn't lose everything. He put his hands behind his head and got on his knees. If he surrendered they wouldn't do anything to him he thought to himself.
The policebots went over to Jack and practically threw him off the ground, dragging him by the arms out the room. A crisis was averted, for now.... It seemed that ADAM, despite knowing literally everything about his creators, was curious to learn more.
Jack let the robots pull him like that. He knew that if he tried to do something he would most likely get himself killed, but he just had a bad feeling about what was going to happen to him.
Alex got up with a groan. it wasn't being pushed by a prosthetic arm but it was the falling part that hurt. "damn..." he noticed Alvin was holding a pistol and he walked up to him. "thought you didn't pull out the gun for me I appreciate the help." he said with a smile as he held out a hand to Alvin for a handshake. "I'm Alex Kuno,nice to meet you."
ADAM turned his voice back to the room, all the while that Jack was being pulled away. "I apologize for the mess, it wasn't supposed to be this way. But I can assure you that right now, after an attack on my life, I'm not going to let something like this pass me by."
Milan was in the kitchen, making more of the rolls. He had calmed down, knowing that mankind has taken its newest step into technology, he sighed, in worry and joy.
