Sonic Rainboom?

Well, in the episode it says that when A pegasus goes fast enough,, they 'cause a sonic boom and a rainbow at once', so I'm going to say any pegasus, but RD has been the only one to perform it.

 

I agree completely with Winter-Snow, with one stipend: Wouldn't somepony have had to perform a Sonic Rainboom previously in order for them to know what it is?

 

Perhaps it used to just be a theory, but something that was considered nearly impossible, kind of like traveling faster than light.

Also, this probably belongs in the story/episode discussion.

 

Personally, I think that while any pegasus has the potential to make a "boom", only RD can make the sonic rainboom. For instance, when Foxy makes a boom, all the clouds in the area turn pink, and rain strawberry something or other (Or at least I think it's like that). My OC has a special boom too, though it's not been revealed yet.

 

If Fluttershy did a rainboom, it would be more of a *squee*boom. Any Pegasus can do it but I assume RD is the only one that can do it and have rainbows follow behind her. She is, after all, Rainbow Dash.

 

That makes a lot of sense.

I have always wondered what exactly that rainbow trail is. Is it some kind of particle or just an illusion of speed? Or am I simply over analyzing a little girl's show?

 

I know a rainbow is created when light hits water... Or when RD farts like a nyan cat. So maybe when she breaks the sound barrier, she farts because of the differences in pressure.

 

@Lonely To me, it's the animators attempt to illustrate how fat she is going, as when she's just casually flying, there is no trail, but when she is going really fast, she has one.

 

She going very fat, snow.
Very fat.

 

I think that "any" pegasus can do it, as long as he/she has required skills and strength to pull it out.
Even if Rainbow Dash herself was first one to make it, sooner or later (hypothetically), there could be some other pegasus that is as athletic as Rainbow Dash, and skilled as her, and she/he could copy Dash's techniques for Sonic Rainboom, and pull it out.

i think anypony thats skilled enough can make a sonic boom. i think the colours of the boom and the fart trail behind the pony rely on the colours of the pony. example: if my pony arrowstrike (shown in sig) did a sonic boom, the colours of the trail and boom would be dark blue and black.

That's what another forum I use thinks. For example, in general flying, RD can leave a rainbow streak behind her, the wonderbolts can leave a storm cloud streak behind them etc. So one would assume the same correlation is apparent with regards to a sonic rainboom. Injuvetably.

 

I don't see why it would be a Rainbow Dash exclusive since there's a book that contains info on it. Unless Rainbow Dash is actually a decendant of a long lost race of rainbow ponies. (which could make sense if the creators decided to make it happen)
