She looked back at him anxiously, but hesitated. "What if he's hurt, Puck? I want to make sure he's okay.."
"What're you going to do to help him?" he challenged. "He's stronger than both of us with Magyck. If he can't beat whatever's over there, neither can we."
She looked at the ground, her brows furrowed. "Then.. Then you're running alone. I'm going to make sure he's okay."
She looked back at him with a resolute expression, summoning her claws. "I'm not changing my mind. I'm going to find him." With that she started back, her brows furrowed.
His eyes widened and he watched her leave him behind. As she approached the area where she had left Ben, she would see a faint glow. Ben was in the center of the area, his hands pressed against a barrier made of light, made from the symbol she had seen him make. Against the barrier were two gigantic centipedes, their pitchers clicking as they attacked the barrier, trying to break it.
Cal frowned, a sudden anger rising in her. She didn't like that he was being attacked. She didnt like that her best friend was being hurtful. She didn't like feeling so weak all the time. She felt this anger and used it to fuel her attack, sending both of the claws hurtling at the giant centipedes.
The claws reached forward and with a huge force, it slammed into the centipedes. She would feel a fire in her chest as she threw them back and the barrier fell, with Ben looking over at her with something like relief. He didn't say anything, though, using the time to begin creating a symbol, far more intricate than the last.
She succeeded, and as she watched, Ben finished the symbol before pressing his hand on it. A line of flames blocked off the centipedes from them, engulfing the pathway they had come from. Ben gasped for breath, his hand dropping as he came over to her, the glow in his eyes fading. "Come on... we need to go..."
He looked down at her, taking her hand as they hurried. "You're amazing," he murmured quietly, his voice soft.
She gave him a small smile, looking rather excited about her skill. She kissed the back of his hans gently.
He looked over at her before stopping suddenly. Puck was standing in the center of the path, only about a dozen feet from where they had been. He was watching the flames, his eyes wide. "My Gods..."
