He looked up at her, clearly hurt. "It was a one-time thing, Calliope," he said quietly. "I just... I thought it could be a favor between us."
Ben looked down at Puck, slowly going to the ground with Calliope, setting the books on the counter. "I don't think you should be here, Puck," he said quietly. Puck squinted at him before looking back at Calliope. "I just... I didn't mean to upset you."
She looked down for a moment before looking up at him with a frown. "We'll talk about it some other time. Just.. Not right now. I just want to be here right now."
She looked hesitant. There was still a soft spot for him. He was her best friend. After a moment she looked down. "You.. You can stay. I'm going to go back to my room."
Ben looked over at her and kissed her cheek, taking her hand. Puck frowned, looking at the two of them. "No, thanks. There's no reason for me to stay. Sorry for bothering you two." He started towards the door, his shoulders hunched.
"I can never win," she said quietly, resting her head on the table. "There's always something. I always do something to upset someone. I can't kiss you on the mouth now and then I can't even talk to him. I don't know what to do."
"When I kissed your mouth earlier it seemed like you didn't like it," she said quietly, looking up at him.
She frowned and took his hand, bringing it to her lips and kissing it. "I care about you so much, Ben. It's impossible not to worry."
He looked down at her, reaching out and brushing her hair back with his free hand. "Well, I'm not planning on going anywhere. Don't worry too much."
He kissed her cheek before resting his forehead against hers, his hand coming down to rest on her hips. "What do you want to do about Puck?"
"Is there anything I can do?" she asked with a small frown, not meeting his gaze. "It just feels.. helpless."
