“Emotions are tangible, Cal,” he said with a shrug. “You can keep them and expend them just like anything else. We’ll work on it.”
"Good," he said slowly, coming over to her and squinting at her hand. "Do you mind if I adjust you for a moment?"
He reached out and his fingers gently adjusted her hand position, straightening out the lines and relaxing her tension. "There. Feel that?" He traced the line from her shoulder to her elbow and to her pointer finger. "This should be seamless."
She would feel a sense of relief washing over her; the tenderness in her stomach unraveled a little as this pathway straightened.
“Having that sense that you feel there? That’s the first step. Keep that poise. Imagine your head is on a hanger and the rest of your body just falls underneath. Everything is in line.” He stood in front of her. “Now, hit me.”
Her eyes were closed as she let her body relax, focusing before opening her eyes. She took a small breath, and sent the claw as she exhaled.
It surged forward, and although it was on target, it evaporated into smoke as soon as it hit him. He blinked, considering this. "Huh. Okay. That's interesting."
"You got a focused direction," he said thoughtfully, summoning a fireball in his hand. "But not a sustained blow. Watch me for a second." He waved his hand and a target appeared in front of him. He threw the fireball forward and it hit the center of the target, but it disappeared in a similar manner to her claw. "Okay? Now... watch me again." His frame became more centered: his knees were above his feet, and his hips were above his knees, and his shoulders were above his hips. He became a little more robotic, but still maintained that fluidity that he had shown her, and this time, when he threw the fireball, the target went up in flames before they both disappeared. "You see?" he said, coming over to her.
He met her gaze, tilting his head curiously. "I told you," he said simply. "Because I think you have potential."
"You have nothing better to do in the meantime," he said with a smirk before extending a hand, coming up behind her. "Do you mind?"
