Barry observed the symbol under every angle. After a few minutes, he sighed. ''Can't say i've never seen this, but... Doesn't ring any bells. I've travelled a lot, i don't know if i've seen this here or somewhere else... If i ever saw it for real, that is. Isn't that the symbol of some cult?''
"It's probably just that. Right?" asked Ria, looking around at the group. "What leads you to think it might be something more?"
"They leave the symbol as a calling card." Necrox said. "Written in blood, grafiti near the corpse, even burn marks. They've been the ones doing the murders. I want to know why, that's why I called these two," he pointed to Stanford and Barry, then continued, "although, you are welcome to join us."
"Well. I could return to the crime screen if the cops haven't gotten there first..." Stanford taps his chin. "Might be able to find some evidence... Maybe an M.O... Do you have any other evidence?"
Necrox shrugged. "Nope. I suppose we could set up some sort of bait, ambush them, and question them." he suggested. "But, it is up to you guys, too. We're a team."
''You guys haven't thought about profiling them, finding a matching pattern between the murders other than the cards, and then find out a matching kind of personnality? That way, we could try to find them in specific locations where they most likely meet, and killing a large number of them in little time? At that point, we could even set traps.''
"The murders have been random, as are the calling cards. And the assassins remained cloaked. I do have a spy on the inside, but she has yet to learn anything. She's going through training and rituals, and I don't see or hear from her often." Necrox said. "I... Suppose this could have been important earlier."
''You said rituals? Rituals? That confirms my theory of the cult, then. And if they're so sneaky, it must be a kind of power they obtain by offering sacrifices. If what we're against has those kinds of abilities, it may turn out to be harder than expected. Necrox, isn't there ANY other RELEVANT information? and you do know it's the second time i ask that question?'' While he talked, Barry carefully trimmed his wings with a barber's razor.
"That is all we know. And the rituals are the what they do there, not the sacrifical kind." Necrox explained. "But, yep, that's all we know."
"Wait, wait, wait... You already got a spy planted in the group? Can we get in contact with them soon? Maybe have her view on this?"
A long, thin black spike tapped on the window. "Speak of the devil." Necrox mumbled, as a cloaked woman opened the window, and crawled inside. "Sorry I'm late." she apologized. She removed her cloak, revealing her spider bottom, and human top. "My name's Liliana. Pleased to meet you all." Liliana said, smiling.
"Ah, vonderbar." Stanford bowed to spidermorph. "Call me Stanford. Just Stanford. I was hoping to ask you some questions pertaining to occult murders."
Liliana bowed. "Pleased to meet you all." she said, smiling. "All I know is that the next murder will be on this street, and they have wings. Other than that, it's random, as usual." "Righty." Necrox said, turning to the group. "So, shall we set up a trap?" he asked.
Stanford thought for a moment before readying up. "Alright. Let's hope we can save the victim before they get killed, might be able to get some information from them."
Barry thought for a few seconds. ''Or, maybe we could simply set a security perimeter and use one of us as a fake victim, and chop the enemies's wings off when we can, so they don't fly off? that way, we can keep one or two alive to interrogate them afterwards?''
Stanford shifted his view towards Barry. "Well, looks you've been nominated to play bait." He slowly shifted back to Lilana. "Aren't these attacks suppose to be... Random?"
"They are. They just choose a random trait or feature, and kill someone with that feature. I... Huh. Now that I think about it, the cultists have killed people exclusively with wings, now that I think about it." Liliana said, thinking heavily.
