"Well.. The truth is.. " She coughed. "I was.." She sighed. "Infected, but I never became a zombie, it's strange, really." She started sobbing and coughing, whether of being afraid, or happiness of hope she survived for some reason, I don't know. "You see, after Altonia called I thought it'd be funny if I teased the zombies, not imagining how dangerous it'd be. I was playing around with them, flying away every time they were about to bite. Then I tripped, and by the time I recovered, they had surrounded me. I was bit. I ran inside, then I decided I might as well spend the rest of my short life with my boyfriend, Ash, from flight school. Remember him, Alto?" Altonia took a good look and remembered. "Oh yeah! I thought he looked familiar." Heverin continued on,"We went all over Cloudsdale and explored and had fun, but the time we got back I was confused. we'd been gone for 4 hours and I hadn't became a zombie yet. Then I heard you scream, and I gave you directions from my knowledge, screaming back. I went to visit Rainbow Dash, even though she's my boss, she's still my friend. When we saw you were close I thought I might as well visit before I.." she trailed off, looking away. She had realized the reality of the situation. "Anyways, that's what happened!" she said in a fake cheerful voice, and sighed while coughing.
"Oh, my darling." murmured Aqua tenderly. It was felt that she loved to take care of ponies. "It will be ok." she sighed sadly. "Is there a doctor?"
"Not that I know of. There were doctors, but they were infected. They usually spent their time healing, so they really never got to the capability of exercise to escape. But.. umm.. I really don't know why I haven't.." Her voice trailed off and she waved her hoof in a funny gesture while coughing. "You know.." Ash comforted her, saying in his lovely, calming voice,"It will be alright Heverin. I know it." Altonia remembered why he had actually remained in her memory, not his looks, but mostly his voice. She sighed dreamily. 'No!' she scolded herself. 'Ash is Heverin's boyfriend, not mine! You especially can't steal him when she's on her death bed! She'd remember as a traitor, not a friend! You have Skullduggery, but he just has to work up the courage to ask you out. Just be patient.' She smiled as if none of those thoughts occurred, and said in her shaken voice, "Yes, Ash is right. You'll be O.K."
Aqua glanced at Altonia, and then smiled. She looked around as a small filly pranced up. "Hi! My name is Lemon Drop! You're new here, aren't you? I'm sooo glad to meet a new group of ponies!"
Heverin looked at Lemon Drop, but then walked away. "It's ok, she doesn't feel comfortable around little fillies, she umm.. she just.. it's hard to explain.. But anyways, nice to meet you Lemon Drop!" Alto said. 'I wish Heverin wasn't forced to work at the factory in the first place. She had failed her flight test, but instead of killing her, they made her a worker. She could have been much happier if she hadn't gone to try and save her neighbor..' Altonia thought.
"Hello, dear." said Aqua with a look of delight. The yellow filly, pranced around Aqua, then jumped on her back. Aqua had a look of surprise on her face.
Alto smiled at Lemon Drop and Aqua. This was the happiest she'd been in days. 'I wonder where her parents are, and how she got here,' she thought. "Dear Lemon Drop, where's your family?" she smiled as best as she could.
Lemon's face dropped. "I....I don't know. Morrow says they've gone away for a while.. See Morrow? That's her, over there." she pointed to a cream colored pony, with a thick mane and icy blue eyes.
"Oh." Alto's face dropped. She knew what it was like to not have a family, and she dreaded any pony else missing their family too. Then she had an idea. "Lemon drop, do you have a favorite song, I have a surprise for you."
Alto smiled. "Can you wait for your surprise until morning? It's getting quite dark. How does after breakfast sound?"
She hopped excitedly. "Sure! Sure!" she ran in a circle, and ran away. Aqua stared after her, in a daze.
"Hey, Aqua. Could you have Lemon Drop sleep in? I'm going to have Heverin make pancakes. She makes delicious ones. Then, have her come out to the campfire area after breakfast." she told her. 'I'm so glad I thought of this.' she thought as she almost skipped away to her and Skullduggery's tent with a giant smile on her face.
It was the morning and Heverin had made the pancakes. She and Altonia were n the campfire, setting up Lemon Drop's surprise. Lemon Drop was quickly eating her pancakes, wanting to get to her surprise. When she was full, she started to walk over to the campfire area. She saw the few ponies having camp there, surrounding the tiny stage where ponies usually told stories at. The ponies on there were Heverin and Altonia. When the other ponies saw her, they cleared way so she could have the best spot. She slowly walked over, not knowing what to expect.
Heverin had a microphone headpiece attached to her head. She cleared her throat, and the whole town fell silent. "Lemon Drop, I'm sorry for disappearing the other day. For part of my and Alto's surprise for you, I have.. uhh.." She pawed her hoof nervously at the ground. "I quit my job at the Rainbow Factory!" she yelled. The town was silent at first, but they soon processed what she said. They cheered, the only thing they thought of to do. "Which means.. I.. I'm sorry, but I'll have to be.. Nevermind! Let's get to the surprise!" she cheered unconvincingly. '..slaughtered..' Heverin thought. She cleared her throat. Altonia got out her viola, and started to play a high note continuously at a fast rate.
(My friend, which is Altonia, which is her OC lol, we both play it.) Heverin waited. "I threw a wish in the well, don't ask me I'll never tell.." she sang beautifully as if someone had cast a spell on her to make her voice beautiful. "..Hey I just met you, and this is crazy, but here's my number, so call me maybe!" a few minutes later Altonia and Heverin ended their viola-and-voice duet. Everyone was astonished. They had never heard such beautiful playing and singing in their life.
