"'I've been thinking quite a bit lately about something we can all relate to, something that is unquestionably, inescapably… American. I am referring, of course, to our great national pastime - baseball. Or so it had been. That's right, America. Before we were devastated by atomic war, each state had its OWN professional baseball team. Imagine, a perfect, cloudless day. The sun is warm, welcoming. And on the horizon, they appear, like knights of yore, armed with bats of ash and hickory. " Respect from a country where the animals kill on a daily basis and apparently have the best special forces on the planet.
*cough**cough* SAS and SBS are the most highly trained and seasoned soldiers in the world and served in virtually every theatre of war since WW2 - INCLUDING UNOFFICIALLY IN VIETNAM assisting US special forces and advising. Even the US, German, Dutch and the Israeli special forces have been trained and advised by the SAS in the past. No other unit has shown the sheer guts, dedication, commitment and professionalism as those fellows. For instance, regarding civilian hostage situations, no other unit has successfully pulled off an Iranian Embassy siege like they did, with the exception possibly of the Israeli special forces raid on Idi Amin's stronghold - Entebe airport. The Dutch did storm a train successfully some years ago, but they were trained and advised by the SAS. I have NOT seen many successful American hostage situations resolved by their special forces. Indeed One or two fowl ups were the Iran / 80's desert raid where it had to be aborted due to losing too many People. SAS first choice .
Man... your making me think about the Texas Rangers again! I kinda miss Texas, only because of the sports teams and restaurants I liked, but I also have tons of family down there as well.
Today is Election Day in the United States. If you're in the U.S. and eligible to vote, don't forget to do so.
