She pursed her lips thoughtfully. “You look snooty,” she said with a small giggle, shaking her head. “Like a king whose underwear got stuck.”
Her giggling intensified, a sweet laughter that seemed to bubble out of her. “Your underpants are stuck? Gross, Zer.”
She started working, but he’d be able to feel the smile in her voice. “You still haven’t denied the underwear allegation,” she replied. Her fingers brushed over his head gently, rubbing a sore point on the nape of his neck before she began to carefully trim. In conjunction with the warm fire and the cool morning air, it would actually feel really nice; it had been a long time since another person had touched him so gently.
He would hear her humming quietly as she worked. At one point, he would hear her laugh a little as she tried to figure out how to cut around his horns, her fingers gently slipping over them. Her free hand rubbed his head as she came around in front of him, squinting as she considered him to get a better look.
She reached forward and gently made one more cut before brushing the hair off his shoulders. "There we go," she said, meeting his gaze. "I'm done."
She beamed at him, looking a little proud. "You look handsome," she said cheerfully, looking around for something reflective so he could see himself.
He pursed his lips, looking a little embarrassed as he stood and stretched. "Are you sure you're not biased?"
She looked at him with a grin, her hands on her hips. "No. I think you look really, really good," she said sincerely.
She rooted through her bag before pulling out a small compact mirror. “For fires,” she said with a smile, offering it to him.
It looked surprisingly good. It was a less groomed style than he was used to, but the hair had been cut in a functional, yet not unattractive fashion.
She took it, placing it in her bag. Her whole face lit up when he praised her, beaming at him. "Right? I did a good job!"
