They were never shot down, just enough *****ing made them retreat for a little while. These will always keep coming up until the US government controls the internet. Kinda ironic considering where commercial internet rooted from. (Google 'ARPANet')

It's not just the US that wants this. Multiple countries will be meeting to discuss this INCLUDING countries that already censor their internet.

The Supreme Court are exactly the kind of people that would do this. After all, it's just a series of tubes to them.

Yes, because this isn't SOPA anymore, it's a worldwide agreement. But going back to my previous post, just about all of the internet are US sanctioned sites, and like everything else the US does with regulation, they'll exercise their control to the fullest extent screwing over the rest of the planet.

Normally I'd say I wish I lived somewhere else, but I recently learned it's hard to get nachos in the UK, and everywhere else is either too cold or too hot for me.

I doubt it'll fly so easy. We got people like UGNazi who's just gonna be a thorn in both of our asses. Those type of people are part of the problem... it's a little bit like that episode of South Park where the KKK didn't want a flag changed.

Well then... i would say go on the street and demonstrate! In Germany they wanted to introduce ACTA, but there where thousands on the streets and germany didnt sign ACTA... til now at least.

But it was awesome i was there at the demonstration in munich ... 16.000 people... and there were demonstrations all over germany... it was awesome.. and it actually worked.. till now... politicians want to take over the internet in every country..

If that happens, in Australia your gonna have a lot of angry people.

You've got to wonder how long we'll keep seeing this. I mean, regulations as seen in previous legislations could actually hurt internet commerce, to my knowledge, thus shooting most governments in the foot.

With a little luck, Google will actually be listened to with a pledge like this rather than laughed at when they tried to explain how the internet worked.

Hmm, haven't I heard about some kind of shared and distributed internet infrastructure that circumvents the global ones or something of the sort? Memory of it is a little less than sketchy...
Oh and what about Anonymous? They never give governments a break.

Living proof that the government rarely venture onto the internet. If the idiots who thought of the bill were clever, they'd know that everything's linked together in some respect, including companies of their own.

If you think about it most senators/politicans are 30/40+ so they are probably afraid of the internet and haven't used it (especially the 60+ ones) if there were more young mp's who know about the Internet then we probably wouldn't have this problem.
