He followed her. It would be hard to see and the light only got dimmer and the water colder. It was a big enough cave, with several large holes drilled into the side of the main cavern. If she listened, she would something occasionally, slithering behind them.
He looked over at her, squinting in the dark. In the gloom she would see the box, sitting on a carved stone pedestal.
He closed it up and turned to leave. They would both hear a loud hiss before something hard hit Zerras, sending him against the wall with grunt. She would barely be able to see it. It looked like an eel, its eyes were beady and its mouth was full of teeth. It had likely attacked Zerras with its tail, which whipped around as it moved.
She gasped, pulling out her scythe and swiping at the eel, intending to take its attention. "Zerras!"
She slipped past the eel, taking her position in front of Zerras, swiping the scythe to try and keep a wide distance between them and the eel.. "Yeah, Z, it's me. You gotta get out of here."
He had his hand on his head for a moment before drawing Oblivion. He shoved the bag with the box in her arms. "I got it," he said, quickly recuperating. "I have a better chance of winning a fight against this thing, so you go first."
"You literally just hit your head on a stone wall and you could barely throw a sentence together five seconds ago," she snapped, setting the bag behind her. "You go."
“Too bad,” she replied sharply. “I’m not leaving you.” She swiped forward, the scythe acting as an extension to her arm, and the eel backed up, avoiding the blade.
He growled under his breath, quickly picking up the bag before taking her arm and dashing back to the entrance.
She made a small noise in surprise as he yanked her forward, holding her scythe behind her to stop the eel from advancing.
