She rested her temple against his shoulder affectionately. "Yet another thing to add to the list for you to teach me."
A slow smile crossed his face as he raised an eyebrow at her. "You want me to teach you to be sarcastic?"
She laughed a little, not seeing his smile but hearing it in his voice. "I want you to teach me everything, Z," she said, looking around curiously. "I find that most moments, I want nothing more than to know what you're thinking."
She looked up at him, tilting her head a little. "I'm certain that's not true," she said, her ears flickering a little. "I'm not very clever, you know. Things that you think I know have probably passed over my head."
She gave him a small smile. "We'll see," was all she said as she looked out ahead again, falling silent.
He didn't respond. They had walked for quite awhile, and Zerras stopped as the sun dipped below the horizon. "Should we set up camp?"
She looked over at him before nodding, kneeling down to clear a fire pit. "Yeah," she said, her voice a little heavy from fatigue. "Do demons have good night vision?"
She laughed a little, her brow furrowing in thought. "It happened when I was talking to that salesman," she mused. "Why were you scared?"
