She softened, her fingers curling in his shirt gently as she looked at him. “We’re almost there,” she murmured gently. “Come on.”
As the farm came into view, June picked up the pace, her ears pricked up. The farmhouse lights were on, and she walked through the corn, her eyes bright.
It appeared that while they were gone, the crops had grown extremely well. Zerras seemed uncertain, hesitant to go to the house.
She ran her hands along the leaves, her eyes softening before she turned back to him, offering her hand.
She seemed very disheartened before shaking her head. “Uhm... okay. Come with me. I’ll show you to the guesthouse...”
The guesthouse was very small and on the other end of the farm. Inside was a double bed and a small kitchen area, with a bathroom and a shower. It was airy and soft and peaceful, but it looked as if it hadn’t been used in a while. Juniper opened the door, frowning.
She looked over at him, her brow furrowed before she entered, going over to the kitchen and pulling out a box of matches. She carefully went around, beginning to light the lamps. “Do you want to go shower?”
She looked up at him before coming over to him, her brow furrowed as she took his hands. “Talk to me, Z.”
