She spoke after a little while, her voice still reflecting that she was almost completely asleep. “I want to be with you forever,” she told him softly, her eyes still closed.
She was still mostly asleep, he would quickly realize, but she nodded, burying her face into his chest. “I love you.”
Several minutes would pass before he would hear a rooster crow in the distance. Juniper’s eyes flew open in surprise and she murmured a little in confusion, trying to orient herself.
She sat up sleepily, running her fingers through her hair thoughtfully before she looked back down at him. She leaned down and gently kissed a line along his jaw, the action soft and loving.
She gave him a small smile, her eyes soft and warm in the early morning light. Her hand was curled against his neck and she leaned down, resting her forehead against his. “Hi.”
"Good morning," she replied, settling next to him and propping her head up with her hand. "Did you sleep okay?"
He closed his eyes for a moment with a small nod. "Yeah, it is. I feel like I could lie here for ages."
She smiled softly, her hand moving to cup his jaw. “I love the way you look when you wake up,” she said lowly. “All ruffled and sweet.”
