She looked up at him brightly, tucking her hair behind her ear. “Oh, great,” she said enthusiastically. “I gotta drive some of the harvesters down this line. Are you doing okay?”
She considered him before looking down at the lines of corn. “I was wondering if you could brainstorm something for me,” she said, looking back at him.
“Well, harvesting takes all day, and watering does too,” she said, gesturing to the sprinklers in the ground. “Papa put these in place, but we haven’t been able to get them working since he died, so we’ve been having to do it manually. However, since I an exploring magic now, do you think there could be something I could do to streamline the process?”
She shook her head uncertainly. “We haven’t been able to figure that out. It’s not a problem with the well; we think in might be the pipes under the crops, but we can’t exactly dig them up...”
“I’m more asking if there’s something I could do with water magic that would bypass the need for the pipes,” she said, heading down the line.
He followed her. "I think you could," he explained, "but I think together we could fix the pipes ourselves, maybe."
She frowned, getting g to the end of the line. There was a large machine that stood on large wheels, encapsulating the line of the corn. With a small grunt, she began to push it forward, moving down the line. As the line passed over a cornstalk, it would strip the ears of corn and send it to the top holding chamber.
"I might be able to adjust with earth magic to move the pipes and allow you to direct the water easier."
She looked up at him from pushing the corn mill, her brows furrowed. “Could you do that without disturbing the cornstalks?”
She frowned but continued to push, moving through the stalks. “Let me finish this row,” she said. “And then we could give it a try.”
“No, I’d like to get it working,” she said, shoving her shoulder into the machine to push it past a few rocks. “Let me just... finish this row so that if we lose this line of crops, then we got one last yield from it.”
