Alright, I'll get started with this now. I learned composition about a year ago, so I'm still a newbie because I'm pretty much self taught. Been having a blast showing my little bits at 4chan and people seem to think my stuff is decent, so I guess is time to come up to the surface and start posting somewhere. I'll try to compose more often and keep the thread update. I also sketch stuff as well. I think everypony tries their hoof at drawing early on when they arrive to the fandom. I'll upload that around here as well. For now, I'll upload a somewhat bad sounding piece I made when I was experimenting with key note psychology and harmonic tensions. Eerie breeze
I'm happy to hear that! It means I did it right. I used a key tone most bibliography considers depressive or menacing, and played around with much tension to give an evil vibe to it. That you come to think of a dungeon music means the experiment was successful.
Good stuff!! You totally nailed that old school game vibe!! Had to do a double take to make sure my SNES wasn't turned on.
Haha! Glad to hear you guys really dig it! That motivates me to make more and get better! Anyway, now here is a sketch of a pony I made back in 2017 or something like that. Back then I was trying to study kmrshy's style. I know I didn't nail it, but still is the best I've done in a while.
It's like I'm back in that dungeon and you can barely see 10 pixels ahead of you and I keep falling in the same hole every time even though I know it's there! GAH!
Like others have said, this definitely gives off exploring a dungeon while encountering traps and stuff from like an old video game. I've seen some of kmrshy's art before, I'd say it looks pretty close to their style, though. Nice job on it.
I really want to thank you all guys for the feedback! Is super cool to post stuff and not being completely ignored like in most communities. Next up, a little something I made last year. I think the inspiration source for this piece is quite obvious. Unfortunately I couldn't come up with more to make it longer. 8bit Hope you enjoy it! EDIT: would hate to make a new post on my thread since it just feels wrong to post twice in a row, so I'm just editing. Just gonna share a sound sketch thingie. It feels wrong to show it on tempo over /mlp/ since a lot of actual musicians are active now and I'm just ridiculously subpar to what they can come up with in 20 minutes. You can listen to it here.
