Dear Princess Celestia, I miss the episodes when Twilight Sparkle would write to you about what she learned. She still had a boatload of stuff to learn when she stopped. Faithfully Yours, Dragonbait
Look at all that activity. Rises some hope in the black icky hole in my chest Also, we need more smileys. These are a bit too... hrm...
So much activity. Fun past trivia, me and DRD posted so much we got the mods to take post counts away from forum games.
That was you? My post count would be double what it is now if forum games had counted when I was at my most active.
I felt that too... I would be way, way higher too. But looking back we were all so worried about a number on a site about pastel ponies, it was very silly.
Makes sense to suppress the post count more for the Forum Games. People do tend to abuse the spammy power of it, if there is no regulation. Heck. Even with me being more fresh-faced than most of you older members. I know still would be in the running for most posts with how I was and am with forum games~ Well... if there was no restriction on the post count, anyway. My guess for my post average: Forum Games: 80% of my posts Serious Discussion: 5% of my posts (mostly from started topics) General Discussion: 5% of my posts (namely in started topics) Misc. other subforms: 10% of my posts
It kind of surprises me there are times forums don't restrict the post count at forum games. Is kind of a rule of thumb to change the post count behaviour for sections such as forum games and even offtopic from the get go.
Yeah, at this point it's not a big deal. Like, you! Look at this arbitrary number I have on this forum! My internet points are majestic! At the end of the day, it's dawdle.
Well, those that do put too much value on high post numbers are those with screaming egos. Besides, the friends you make along the way on places like these, are more valuable~ Not post numbers.
Perhaps, though at the beginning everypony wants to shine a bit don't we all? Problem is when you are old and still want to outshine everyone with shallow popularity. I'm glad this site is not that way as of now. Those dumb popularity wars got me in a crossfire on that other site to the point I was used till certain somepony got some power over there. I'm better off around here even if things are a bit too quiet.
Fair enough. There is an allure to getting attention and finding joy in getting responses to things you post. Just so you can post more. I'll not deny that. Though once people get to know you, it's wise to tone back the attention-seeking and let things flow as they should. And yeah. Everyone that is still on here are all great people and fun to talk to~ Though some of that is from the site losing members, so the more insane stuff doesn't happen as often. I've seen some sites have insane, toxic communities to the end. Pretty much burning the candle at both ends. It sucks when a forum ends up like that.
I believe! You can do it! Or I could subtly change your post count lower periodically so you never make it... But that would be evil...
The forum with the most posts in it would be the complaint section about why there aren't post counts.
