    We can hope.

Anyway, I have a slew of doctor's appointments coming up. I knew it was coming, but I hate that I even need to have these in the first place.

    Congrats. >^_^<

My boss deals with real estate closings, among other things. Before they begin, the necessary funds need to be wired to his business account. I'm constantly hearing tales from him of how some lenders for some reason or other do not follow the very basic instructions, and thus the funds don't become available until he gets everything straightened out. He's had to get the closings postponed on a few occasions because of that tendency.

    People, sometimes...

Indeed. Fortunately, my aunt works part time in real estate and recommended all the right people. We had a lot working in our favor.

There's a couple of old apartment buildings a couple blocks away from where I live, and I walk past them regularly when I go to and from work. I was on my way home this afternoon, just walking on the other side of the street, and some guy was screaming, and I mean SCREAMING, profanities at some toy or other. Then after he was done, he changed topics at the same volume and bellowed something about it being illegal to get angry.

I didn't look at him the whole time, I just kept on going. I didn't look back until I was at least a block away and the street had gone quiet, and I didn't see any sign of him then.

I have no idea what was wrong with that guy. All I know is that I'm going to take an alternate route to and from work for a while.

So, a bit of annoyance I wanted to share.

I was walking back to work after lunch. I have to go across Main Street to get there. At the intersection, there were two cars. The first one was turning left, business as usual. The driver for the one behind it decided not to wait; while the first car was still in the lane, the second drove around it on the right in order to keep going straight. If I had started to go across like I was planning to at that moment, it would've hit me.

Feels to me like a lot of people in this town shouldn't have access to a vehicle. They drive like their destination's going to sprout legs, pull itself off its foundations, and wander off. No patience at all.

Going to say I'm a little bit nervous about this.

I went to the local medical center yesterday for a follow-up dermatology opponent, and to boil the situation down, there was something on my nose they didn't particularly like. So they scraped off part of my nose (have to rotate bandages and apply ointment for about a week, and even then it's going to scar) and sent it off for testing.

They'll let me know next week if what they saw is a sign of skin cancer or not. I hope it isn't; I consider myself fortunate enough to have dodged any real life-threatening stuff up until now, such as major physical injuries or illnesses (including COVID-19), but anything can change.

And time can always run out.

An update to my previous post: the medical center got back to me on Friday, and they confirmed that I'm not in danger from skin cancer. So, yeah; I'm a bit more enthused about that. :)

Back when I was growing up in Michigan, there was this friend of our family who was a terrific artist. One of the paintings hanging in our house is of the home that my mom spent her childhood in. Mom was telling me earlier that whenever she looked at the painting, it was like she was standing across the street looking at her old home in person again. (The house isn't there anymore; it's just a parking lot now.)

I found out today that the person who had painted it passed away last month. My parents and I viewed the memorial service over Zoom.

...I've never been good at dealing with this sort of thing. I have to go now.

As a graphic artist, sometimes I just want to scream at our customers. "Just do what you did last time" is not helpful! "Make it pop" is also not helpful! Finally, "Just do whatever looks good" is NOT HELPFUL!!!!

It's been a hot minute. Wazzup?

What is on my mind? Well. Alot. More than I'd care to talk about here. But a few things I've been focused on have been myself, reading, music. Though alot of it has been on me, as far as self improvement. I will admit I've been a lost confused individual for a while. And I've discovered how much I've been dishonest with myself and others. Re-discovered that I have some serious issues with my father. More so my own perceptions of my father. And then the less than positive perceptions of myself and others that are not my father. The long and short of it is that I have some long overdue growing up to do as a person.

As far as reading. While I've stopped for a little while. I have been reading Lord of the Rings. Seen the movies, never read the books, till now. We'll I just started recently. Also yes. I also have The Hobbit. I've read that one front to back already.

Music. I've taken up vinyl collecting. Doubt I started this till sometime after I fell off posting here. But I could be remembering wrong. Eh. Anyway. All of my selection has been mostly suggestions from family, with a small chunk that I got for myself without recommendation. I could list them. But I have to keep some secrets to myself. But that doesn't garentee I won't list them if asked.

But yeah. Beside that. It's just been the day to day stuff. Gardening again with the warmer weather. Walking, daily. Or dang near daily. And generally trying to get myself to be less in a mental hole.

we adopted a little orange kitten along with her mother, Callista, in 2009. she was basically the cat equivalent of a tomboy, though she mellowed out as she got older. she had a tendency to play really rough, and this resulted in one of her fangs getting damaged (my older brother actually did start calling her "Fang" the one time he saw her). we eventually had the fang removed, and she spent the rest of her life with a perpetual sneer, like one of those gangsters from early 20th-century films.

mom had her front claws removed not long after we brought her in (don't worry, she knows better now). it hardly ever stopped her. one time, a gecko somehow got into our house. the other cats just sat around and stared at it, not knowing what to do with it. she went right up to it and grabbed it up in her teeth. mom had to rescue the poor thing and put it back outside.

time claims everything, no matter what or who. late Sunday night, she suffered what her vet later theorized was a stroke, and it left her partially paralyzed. she was still able to eat and drink after a time, but she couldn't do much more than that other than move her head and meow.

i saw her for the last time on wednesday morning while I was putting food out for the fuzzy little freeloaders that treat our front porch as a bed-and-breakfast. our parents had placed her in this large box lying on its side in the living room, with blankets in it. i stopped to say hi to her and give her a pet. she looked up at me with eyes that were permanently dilated and meowed. i don't know if she recognized me or not. my parents took her to the vet that morning while i was at work. they spoke with the vet, who determined what was likely wrong with her, and it was agreed that they would have her euthanized. her remaining lifespan, according to them, would've been weeks at best, days at worst.

i will remember that sound she made for the rest of my life.

she had this big gray rat toy that she liked to hunt. time and time again I'd hear her meowing from elsewhere in the house, and frequently I'd find the toy lying right outside my bedroom door. i included it as part of the criteria for the ai to use in the linked picture. it seemed fitting.

    good-bye, old friend.
thank you for the almost 17 years you spent with us. may your eternal sleep be forever pain free.
