it was great. I must be honest, I expected more King Sombra and more fighting, but I suppose that's "A Canterlot Wedding" influence. Overall, great episode. I loved how Pinkie Pie is new Fluttershy (inb4, Pinkie Pie is new Fluttershy memes). Also, I've very glad that Spike finally got some major role in Equestria. AJ was brilliant, with her lame excuses. Songs were great. My favorite was Fail song at the beginning (although, in the context of episode, I'm not sure if it'll be called "Fail song" officially). Also, I'd like to point out that Crystal ponies are slight reference to bronies, and current state of fandom, and where it should go, and how it was. I hope bronies will learn from this epsiode. I didn't like it that much, TBH. The antagonist didn't get NEARLY enough screen time. Oh, and GAK GAK GAK GAK GAK GAK GAK GAK GAK GAK GAK!!!! EDIT: Spoiler: Spoiler Pinkie Pie's Fluttershy costume? Everyone in the chatroom WTF'd when that happened. Pinkie was VERY random in these two episodes.
I personally think the second episode was better than the first part, I don't think enough went on in either of the episodes though to be honest. It was quite uneventful which was disappointing, and Sombra hardly got any screen time. I think stairs were more of a villain in it than he was. Having said that, the animation was spectacular, I don't think I've ever seen a cartoon as well animated as that before, and if the rest of the season is of the same quality, everyone should forgive them for the 13 episodes as opposed to 26, seriously, they've clearly worked their butts off on the look of the show. Also, Shining Armour and Cadance were perfect yet again, the love was clearly there, and did you see how he freaking launched her like a paper airplane?! Dayyyyum! Rarity was by far the best part of the premiere, she made it. Just so funny, so in character, and so fabulous! I ship Rarijack even more so after that brief line they shared with one another. The music was pretty eh, but I expected that, they'll want to save the good stuff for later on. I especially like the idea of the filly episode shown in the trailers! TL;DR - The characters were amazing, even Pinkie was always funny and never annoying, I just wish Sombra had a bit more of a part. It wasn't as good as the Royal Wedding episodes, but it blew Return of Harmony out of the ocean and into orbit. 9/10
In every 2 parter of the series I've always shed a tear, but not in this one. I did like it overall, but I felt like they beat around the bush and then rushed it at the very end. I like the stories when it seems like the enemy has won but then everything bounces back in a last effort. Nightmare Moon crushes elements Discord corrupts the mane 6 Chrysalis traps celestia and captures the mane 6 Then there's King Sombra, who only started to infect the empire and lost in less than a minute. He had amazing power. I wish we could have seen more of it. It's cool that Spike finally got some praise, but he didn't really do anything. I'd give the episode an 8/10
Pretty baws episode but now the best. It was defiantly 10/10 for hilarity. Animation 10/10. But the story was a little lacking. Now I'm not saying it's bad, it's just not up to standard with other episodes. The villain was kinda lame and it seemed drawn (which is understandable because they can't have the story last between 22:00 and 44:00. Overall 7.5/10 for story. Still I am super glad ponies are back! Next weeks episoded looks amazing! PS: Gak FTW!
It seems we learnt more about Gak than actual friendship, oh and that according to pinkie pie night vision is night visiony
