Rainbow's hair looks like Elvis' hair and Shining's stays exactly the same. Good on you animators, good on you.
Epic, not my favoite episode but still, Epic. Let's face it, nothing could match my hype as this point. Still, knight Dash=OMG Sexy . The villain had cool powers too, but needs more screentime. My favorite thing was that door of illusions.
This wasn't the best episode, but I enjoyed it nevertheless. I liked that Cadence and Shining Armor were in this one, and they didn't just drop off the face of the earth after the finale. The music for the episode was pretty good too, I really like Ballad of the Crystal Ponies, but I'm sure some of you might have already noticed that (http://www.everyponysings.com/2012/11/ballad-of-crystal-ponies-sheet-music.html) Next weeks episode looks really good, I'm pretty excited for it!
I just finished watching it. I thought it was pretty good, not as good as the Season 2 Premier, but still pretty good. Sombra could've had more screen time though. Easily my favorite part was when Pinkie took off the Fluttershy costume. I was like, "Lol, typical Pinkie."
So nobody thought Cupcakes with Pinkie's Fluttershy suit? I thought the episodes were a great start to S3, I have very high hopes for the rest of the season. And dat animation! Definitely improved. Pinkie was hilarious and there was some suspense, however, for me, it kind of fell a bit dull and I wish it could have been executed better toward the end. Overall I give an 8/10 and it was well worth the wait. Spoiler: Also The Crystal Empire was such an obscure place and not even well known by Celestia, and not to mention disappeared for nearly 1000 years. It just seems incredibly cliche to me that Cadance's cutie mark just happens to resemble the crystal heart. A normal heart cutie mark would have been better imo. Maybe I'm just too picky?
well they did say she was the crystal princess and alicorns do live for 1000 years so it could just be that cadence (then a filly) left the empire to escape king sombra.
How could none of you mentioned this before? I guess it's my job to lay this out in the open: King Sombra loved stairs. And this: Spoiler: Big pic is big
Was she the original princess of the crystal empire though? I do remember them calling her the "princess" of the Empire but I thought they just meant presently, as a stand-in leader along with Shining. Maybe I missed something or maybe Cadance's unknown parents ruled the empire (before Sombra overthrew them) and her cutie mark inferred she would be the heir to the throne. *shrugs*
HERE BE SPOILERS x x x x x Consider yourself warned. Couldn't really appreciate the animation since I watched fuzzy standard def version. I'll be getting an HD file of these eps soon. Thoughts: - I like that they're actually trying to expand the world of Equestria in these episode, rather than just throwing a new villain at the Mane 6. - Love how they're using characters from A Canterlot Wedding in this episode. Continuity isn't always one of this show's strongest points (Tank, anyone?) - Did anyone else think "Direwolves" when Shining Armor ominously warned about "something else returning" as well in that big snowy region? - New villain sucks. I miss Discord. - Rarity's reactions to everything crystal, and Twily's reaction to the library, made this episode for me. - Pinkie was a little too random this episode. Although I loved Fluttershy's reaction when she stepped into that suit Pinkie had been wearing that looked like her. I actually like the way this episode was resolved more than A Canterlot Wedding (where they pretty much got the heroes out of an unwinnable situation by cheating and exploiting the power of lurve). They still won with the power of love, I guess, but there were rules to it: there had to be a specific relic, and it had to be in a specific place in a specific span of time. And the explanation of why it was so powerful made sense, as the crystal heart amplified the power of the individual crystal ponies. The writing just seems a lot more tight than in any of the other two-parters.
For those who haven't found it yet, full HD episode here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4j02VTiFQE In any case, I thought it was as good as any episode, with the exception of Sombra, who's motive for villainy in said episode fails in comparison with Discord's non-symmetrically placed left wing. In other words, Discord rules, Sombra drools. At least his "crappy OC" appearance matches the "rawr! I'm evil!" stereotype...
I thought the episode was well worth the wait. Although it seemed like it was over to quickly, as usual. (still not complaining)
This was a really excellent episode, I've always been a big fan of the X-Men and seeing Shining Armor do a Colossus & Wolverine "Fastball Special" with Cadence made me surprise so hard I shot beer out my nose.
I absolutely loved the episodes. It's hard to place it on my favourites list, but I absolutely loved it. I loved Pinkie Pie, I loved Twilight Sparkle, I loved Spike. All in all it's been a great season premier and I can't wait to see where the story goes. I feel like this season is going to focus on more than just Equestria somewhat and can't wait to see what Celestia and Luna have planned. Also Spoiler: My opinion so far.
Well, Sombra was ok, not best villain, that is either Discord or Chrysalis, but ok. He was more of an evil force than a character, but he had really cool powers and did serve his purpose.
I just noticed something: The villain of Season 1 was changed to good and forgiven for her past deeds. The villain of Season 2 was turned to stone and banished back to where he began. The villain of the end of Season 2 was banished back to her homeland. The villain of Season 3 was killed.
Well, I would like to provide a counter point to that. We saw that Sombra could regenerate from his horn, and when he was blasted apart, we saw his horn fly away intact. Just sayin
OK, why do different characters pronounce the villain's name differently? Some say "Sombra," and some say "Somber."
Ahem, am I the only one who spotted this? Feeling Pinkie Keen, spike opened a door and hurt Twilight. Crystal Empire part 2, Twilight opened a door and hurt Spike. Revenge takes that long? :Trollestia:
