That's the joke. It's like how I call my sister my favourite sister, even though she's a spoilt brat.
It's funny because it's not funny? Kids. Oh yeah, let me stay on topic like a good boy. Um....I like this episode. Season 3 is da bom.
@TW Spike's not the only Dragon in the show though, so my point still stands. Back on topic though, I look forward to next weekend when Equestria is invaded by the Pinkie Clone Army. Oh yes.... IT SHALL BE GLORIOUS!!!
As much as I liked these episodes, I just don't get what Celestia was trying to do there. Yeah, the world is in danger once again. Send Twilight to fix it, and to put even more pressure on the poor girl, make it some sort of test with rules that, in the end, turn out to be stupid and irrelevant. Yeah, she might have been trying to teach Twilight a lesson about trusting in her own judgment and making her own decisions (as if she really needed that lesson after the season 2 finale), but hey, couldn't she have chosen another time for this, like, when the fate of the world was not at stake? The thing about Twilight's destiny seems intriguing at first, but really... in the course of a little more than two years, she has saved Equestria (and possibly the world) no less then four times and was directly responsible for reverting NMM back to Luna to boot. And still, Celestia claims that Twilight has yet to fulfill her destiny. Really now, Celestia? Is saving the world multiple times not enough? Is bringing back your long lost sister not enough? WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT??? Joking aside, this was a good start for the new season. It will be interesting to see where it goes from here.
Just got around to watching both episodes (I've been on holiday) and I liked it overall, it was entertaining; but it wasn't the best premiere episodes. It made me laugh a lot, Pinkie seemed a lot more random (not that its a bad thing), Rarity is fabulous as always. Spike saving the day was a good twist. While watching I just felt happy to see the mane 6 again, it seems like its been ages. Its been mentioned a few times in this thread, but the animation was gorgeous these episodes; especially the ending when the Crystal Empire and its ponies returned to normal. And I liked how they introduced a villain and a new location, instead of just bringing the villain to ponyville. Which brings me to the villain. I too think he was so underused, he had the potential to be a great villain with really amazing powers, but he hardly got enough screen time; and most of the time we only saw him as a black fog. I really wouldn't mind if they brought him back somehow (it'd be awesome if he's the villain in the series finale). But yeah it was a good episode, and its great to see the show back
I finally saw this this morning after finally finishing season 2 last night. I thought "A Canterlot Wedding" would be pretty hard to top (it would've been a fine finale if the series had ended there), and while this doesn't top it, I thought it at least matched it in terms of writing, music, etc. Perhaps the story was a bit less epic this time around, but in it's place we got a more personal, character based episode that I thought worked wonderfully. On another note, the most likely reason why we only get 13 episodes this season is because that brings the count up to 65 episodes. As TV Tropes has noted, that's where most cartoon series stop, so let's all hope that won't be the case here.
