Fixed the thread title. Looks like another filler episode to me.... #bummer Though I guess it's nice to see that their pets actually still exist.
actually, this should have been episode 8. if you look at official markings (production markings), this episode was to air before Apple Family reunion, but was delayed (that's why there was 2 week gap later), but due to unknown reason, it was moved to this date (maybe they had mess up at production, so story wouldn't match up). anyway, I was going by production codes.
I'm not going to look at the spoilers but it seems to me that this will be a filler upside No problem by me. I expect a lot of laughs. It's great to see the pets still around. I hope they don't forget Peewee. I do remember seeing somewhere that there was a specific reason this episode was held over to now and that it would make some kind of sense. I can't remember where I read that though.
Does anyone else think we might end up hearing "CUTIE MARK CRUSADERS, PET SITTERS! YAY!" at some point during the episode?
Trust me, Fluttershy ain't letting them anywhere near her chickens. Speaking of which, Fluttershy has a whole zoo worth of animals. Is Spike taking care of them all? :-/
I actually tend to like the filler episodes more than the serious plot episodes (aka season openings and finales) so I've got no problems with it. I wonder if Spike will actually be competent at his job this time...
I like to Imagine Discord is taking care of the rest of her animals, but she of course left Angel with Spike since Angel is her like her baby *Favorite pet* And A & Dizzy don't get along very well XD Also, Oh Spike, what have you gotten yourself into.... silly silly little Dragon
Right, but it's a bit easier to recognize episodes by air #, especially when looking through a list of threads.
I'm so glad this is a Spike episode, although these episodes don't really seem to do any justice in making him a badda$$ hero
I'm not fond of Spike episodes, so I'll keep it short. Rainbow Dash and Tank are freaking adorable together. Also, shouldn't the CMC have been helping Angel to tell the Mane 6 about what Spike was doing? Didn't they learn their lesson about not worrying about being called "a snitch" in the Babs Seed episode? Why did they cover for him? Bribery is acceptable (see Granny Smith and well everyone he paid off with a gem)? Again, no letter. But, is this because he actually learned what he did was wrong or did he just learn that it cost him all his gems? I didn't really get a clear message about the lesson here. I'm not so sure anymore, the first gem he paid someone off with is the one Rarity gave him. You'd think he'd part from that one last...
Ok, so I thought that episode was pretty bad. Like, really bad. It may have worked well if it was, say, a bonus episode on a DVD, but not as an actual season episode. I mean ffs, they can give us two Spike episodes but not a Rarity episode or an episode about Luna and Celestia or something? It just seemed like filler for the next episode, which will explain what the ponies were doing in the Crystal Empire. It was next week's episode, from Spike's POV, and it was boring. There was no solid storyline. One minute they were in the library, then they were at the treehouse, then they were at Ponyville, then they were at THE FREAKING CRYSTAL EMPIRE. Why were they there?! They had a huge build-up when they were getting on the train and stuff, but they were there for like two minutes! Why?! Surely it would have just been better for the Mane Six to have come back, found Spike hadn't treated their pets well, and he would have apologised. Knowing that friendship is magic, they'd forgive him. But no, he hid it. They never found out. That's a great message to teach, hide your mistakes, and nothing bad will come of it. And he bribed Granny Smith. And he tried to make the CMC his fall-guys. Who really served no purpose for the rest of the episode and should have said no in the first place. And he lied to his friends. No spectacular animation or storytelling, the plot was literally: > Pets do something, Spike gives someone a gem > Spike sits on train with pets, above happens > Spike hides pets I'd expect more from Studio B. I really would. The episode was just really uneventful and boring. I think Spike's even more of an idiot now. Wow. Just wow. 2/10 Points at least for the adorable Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy
