Why is Rainbow Dash even really being discussed here? She had all of maybe two sentences in this ep. And I don't recall her being a jerk at all.
I see Rainbow as a character with layers. She is generally more sensitive and caring than she let's across. Kinda a reverse Fluttershy, who are way tougher than she seems, comparig them to candy, Fluttershy has a soft shell with a hard layer on the inside. Rainbow has a hard shell and is soft on the inside. You have to work to get through that shell, but is worth it for what you find underneath. In the same way, if you are to hasty with Fluttershy, her tough core may break your jaw because it is not something you would be expecting. Can we take the Rainbow discussion on the topic I created a while ago. http://www.everypony.com/forums/sho...usly-why-is-everyone-so-harsh-on-Dashie/page5
Agreed and while she's not my favorite Mane Six pony that spot belongs to Rarity I still like her because she's a cool, tough tomboy is loyal to her friends and can fly fast enough to not only break the sound barrier but to also create a rainbow trail behind her at the same time how could I not like a character like that.
Well, I actually see Rainbow Dash's point in not trusting Discord after what he did in season 2. I don't see RD as jerk, but more as pony who's trust, once lost, is very hard to gain back. And some people are just like that, which makes her character better actually. Combined with her little tougher attitude, you get what was in this episode. And, let's be honest, if there's someone who wanted to take over your country/city/state/etc by force in the past, and it suddenly became good, would you trust him/her off the bat? Not really sure about that. It'd take some time for him/her to gain your trust back.
This, the other ponies had every right to be weary of Discord, Fluttershy is of course going to make RD & the others look bad in contrast though, I mean she's the element of kindness for petes sake.
You are playing a psychologist to someone that dislikes a fictional character you like. Interesting. Liked the episode, but it needed to be longer. I think they have changed Discord's eyes...and what will he be called now? I thought as someone suggested he will actually become a pony once he is reformed, turn to Starswirl the Bearded. Lot of things 'leaked' and made people think that will happen.
Playing a psychologist, lol. It's not about me liking her at all, it's about how much she was expressing her anger towards Rainbow Dash that I found hilarious.
That wasn't. That was just a fact about horses. And if you're expecting logic to apply to a cartoon...you're gonna have a bad time.
Remember though that ponies have way higher brain functions than a regular horse and would therefore probably have a way different cycle of life. They could even potentially live longer than humans. We don't really know but we have no reson to assume they are anything like regular horses. Faust is correct in that we should measure a pony's age in the stage of life rather than age though just because the length of these cycles are unknown. Which leads to another speculation, are a pony considered of legal age if they have a cutie mark? I find this to be the likely way they would measure maturity accordig to what we know. By the way, have not the CMC remained the same age for more than a hundred moons right now? Or at least two years.
Rainbow Dash is Rainbow Dash, she is probably the most layered character. She has that hardass personality, but has shown to be emotional many times. RD and Fluttershy are polar opposites, despite both being Pegasi. Plus they are my two favorites. OT: Fluttershy did a great job controlling Discord, she saw he had good qualities before any pony else. I kind of thought he would stop the chaos by himself. I have a new likeness in Discord. I do wonder if the ponies new alliance with Discord a foreshadow of a new entity of evil that will require both of them to take on. This episode also showed me a new side of Princess Celestia.
*warning, spoilers for those who haven't watched it yet, so please do before reading this* Watched that yesterday, I was quite surprised when Discord became "good" although, half of me wants to accept it, and another isn't convinced at all. Anyway, I hope there will be a episode in the future with him in it again, to see what Celestia decides what job he should have in the scenario. Discord is my favorite MLP villan
I enjoyed the hell out of it!!! Discord was great as a villain and he retains quite a bit of that in this episode (until the end of course). Another important lesson from this one that may have been a little overshadowed is about compromise.
I think this episode should have benefitted from a longer run time. A "Brigada Cola" episode clocks in at 40 minutes and 30 seconds. If the Pony episodes were that long, we could have time to develop Discord's friendship with Fluttershy more. As in, the episode is verey rushed. We are only shown a glimpse of Fluttershy and Discord's friendship and Discord tuerns good right outta nowhere. And yeah, I'm gonna saty it before someone else does: this episode turned out to be 100% pointless, since Discord is back to being evil. They should have let him stay in stone.
