The episode was... Flatter than expected. I mean, I was expecting feelier feels. Nonetheless, t'was enjoyable- still humorous, still looked great (as is usual for this season). And it was cute. :3 The song sounded pretty bland to me though. It was... meh, at best. Not hitting my pony playlist. PS; Perspective in the song was a little weird at one particular point, too. It looked like, rather than them being stood next to one another, some of them had just grown unusually large. It just looked wrong. Anyways, yeah. Okay episode.
Overall I enjoyed this one, of course I love the CMC to death... mainly Scootlaloo, mostly because Scootaloo is best filly but I digress. I was upset that Scoots didn't fly, I'd truly like to see her lose all hope for flight and then have some cataclysm that allows her to overcome her inability and take to the skies with her idol. (I'm a sap sappy sap sap.) Mostly because her dream is to fly with Rainbow Dash, and be just as good as her at tricks and things, Scootaloo's dream is literally flight, therefore if the writers don't let her fly then what does that say? "Sorry but sometimes the odds are just too great and you just have to let your dreams die?" I dunno It would hurt me personally almost too much to watch the episode if i didn't think there was hope. I just feel like ultimately their dreams should be achieved, I mean yes there's more drama the other way around and half the fandom wants it the other way around. But I feel like it's be a good spin to lead us off of a cliff thinking she will never fly, and then bam, there she is flying. /end rant of nothingness. I still liked the episode and the song was great, expecting more good from this season.
I skipped it. There is only one cmc episode i have ever liked and it was sleepless in ponyville from last season. Other than that i don't like cmc episodes at all.
I overall enjoyed the episode. I didn't like CMC episodes that much at first, but applebloom grew on me over the years, now I look forward to them. About the song... I've been anxiously awaiting a new MLP song, and as the first one of season 4, I'm a little disappointed. It wasn't bad, don't get me wrong, it was just, as someone else put it, "flat". Maybe I was spoiled by all the upbeat arrangements in EG and the musically-packed S3 finale (love it or hate it). I just hope the next song is more... hmm.. pinkie-pie's-smile-song-esque.

I might watch it on later point of time when i have nothing else to do. My brother watched it and he also did not like it so there is that.
I liked. Then again, I'm not all that hard to impress. If I had one complaint with the ep, it's that the ending was rushed in a way that we didn't get to see the CMC really school DT and Spoon, which...come on, really?! Seeing the diabolical duo get put in their place always makes me so warm and fuzzy inside! Something I really liked was that the question of "will she ever be able to fly?" was left up in the air. Also, was really hoping for a twist ending where Snips and Snails actually won. That'd have been a hoot, IMO.
This was a good episode by itself, but I'm really wondering if they're going to follow up on this Equestria Games thing. It'd be cool to see ponies from different regions, like the ones we saw from Saddle Arabia.
I'm not one for CMC episodes but this one wasn't too bad. I was expecting some scenes with more emotional impact like Scoots flying and what not. my only concerns are that I really hope the songs are better with a wider range of sounds and a catchier tune. oh and this animation error (Can not unsee!)
