Definitely an improvement over last week's episode for sure. The song was different, but enjoyable. My girl fluttersh---bat, was adorable even with elongated ears, fangs, and bat wings. About dash the drunkard... is the cider supposed to be alcoholic? I would personally hope yes and that fact is lost on the target audience? Either way, dash gained a couple brownie points with me, rarity's suit was wonderful, and pinkie was insane as usual. I agree with the "darker theme" this season tends to have, and while not a bad thing by itself, I do find myself wishing for more upbeat raise-this-barn/winter-wrap-up-esque episodes. 8/10
My only concern is that it has already been stated stated that Bat Ponies/Lunar Pegasi/Kirin/Thestrals were a separate species. I was happy to see Flutterbat, but this explanation for Bat Ponies has a few serious flaws.
The newest episode made me love Fluttershy and I thought the whole Flutterbat concept was extremely cool. Fan art of her is currently my background on my computer <3 She is my new favorite of the Mane Six.
Fluttershy looked different than those bat ponies. It's not like they said all bat ponies are created by a backfiring spell. >_>
Magic gene splicing. Scientifically impossibly large apples. Prehensile hair. Pinkie doing the cartoon digging schtick. Good episode.
Thoroughly enjoyed this episode. I liked the Tim Burton-esque song (and let's be honest, there is no way it could be the worst AJ song) and of course, Flutterbat. I'm really liking the darker vibe this season has had thus far.
How? Fluttershy was basically gene spliced with the fruit bats because of the spell backfire. How does that create a serious flaw if normal bat ponies are their own species? Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
Really enjoyed this one. Actually got quite a few chuckles out of it (♫Fruit bat roundup, fruit bat roundup~♪), Flutterbat was awesome, and I guess I'm just overall happy to finally get another AJ episode. Dunno about that ending, though...my gut tells me it's just a one-shot joke ending, but another part keeps nagging me about how cool it would be to see her utilize her bat powers in later episodes. Also, really dug the song - McCarthy wasn't kidding about Ingram channeling his inner Elfman.
Not really. I don't care, what he said doesn't really make sense is all. And what's it matter to you? It's slightly annoying when someone says this every thread. Just saying. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
The flaw being that if Bat Ponies are created by magic, then they aren't actually a separate race. It's an inconsistency between what has been stated by the writers and what actually happened on the show.
That's a rather large implication though. We know fluttershy was but it might not be the case for them all. I personally like to think there are naturally occurring bat ponies. Fluttershy looks rather different too so it might be safe to assume she's complete separate and nothing more than a freaky fruit bat hybrid. I've said too much. I might get in trouble again. :derpe: Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
I enjoyed the hell out of it!!! I absolutely can find nothing to complain about!!! Also, did anyone else think of the Batman theme while she was swooping down on them?
