During Meghan McCarthy's Twitter Takeover event, she stated that the episode "might feature [her] favorite Rarity performance ever".
I really liked it. I never expected a love triangle in MLP, but they handled it well in order to bring to light what I consider to be very important lesson that would have been difficult to convey otherwise. I found myself laughing my ass off at so many of Rarity's awkward moments, and Applejack's way of getting through to her was genius. I felt so bad for poor Spike in this episode. That little guy gets mad respect for sticking by Rarity the entire time she was unwittingly throwing his affections in his face. Also, balloon-head pinkie made me laugh. Oh, and the little nod that Trenderhoof gave when he pointed at Derpy and said "unappreciated". Also, a trendsetter with a plaid cutie mark. Wat.
Thanks for the link Yami my friend I just watched the episode and honestly despite being a Rarity fan except for her attempts to be country/ southern the rest of the episode was just ok.
Like Yami, I never thought we'd see a love triangle. Ballsy move, writers! Anyhoo, a few good lolz (airhead Pinkie, AJ wiping her mouth, Vern's melodrama) but overall I'll give it a 6/10.
To sum it up, i think the episode was ridiculous in a good way. I'm gonna go with Rockout and give it a 6/10.
A very enjoyable episode. This Season has made it hard to pick out the best and worst episodes, so I don't know how to rate this one. I suppose I liked it a lot because I find Rari-jack to be one of the best combos to counter each other ever since "S1, Look Before You Sleep". To see the two swap personas was hilarious and the lesson learned from this, set out a very good message to the audience. Oh and is it just me but the 3rd Hoof drawing of the festival looks like it's got Pinkamena in it. My only complaint is seeing (And Hearing) Rarity act so... country, I just hate to see her look bad.
No it didn't, if I ever marathon I will skip this one. It's like the 13nth floor at a hotel, it exists but we all choose to ingore it. This episode was so terrible it was the first episode of MLP that I felt like clicking out of in the middle. At least Spike at your Service and Show Stoppers had comedic value to them even if they sucked, but this was the worst episode I have ever seen. If you read my weekly review you will see I love almost all the episodes. But this, this is something special. 0/10 (Doesn't exist) PS: Last weeks quicky review; Loved it, tied with Rarity takes Manehatten for best episode 10/10
For once Spike was the best thing about the episode. It wasn't a particularly bad episode but it was just... weird. I felt it didn't fit much at all but it had a good lesson... What I do like is how well they managed to pull off Rarity acting like a country pony without having it seem like she was downright disrespecting that lifestyle. She seriously just doesn't relate to it and was actually making a fairly decent effort at changing, though because it was for the worst possible reason, it was still very poor. The whole voice thing really just... ugh. Like, seriously, I wish they did make it a mocking sort of thing so I can have a legitimate reason to hate it, but... uuuggghhhh.
I feel like I was the only one laughing my ass off every second Rarity was trying to speak like a country person. xD
I feel like I was the only one thinking "wat. no. wat. no. wat. no. wat. no." over and over whenever she did that. And when "Apple Jewel" spoke all sophisticated but her accent got totally in the way.
I really liked this episode. It's nice to see some good old-fashioned cartoon comedy every once in a while.
Any episode that can make me turn off my brain and just laugh at JonTron levels of crazy shenanigans, I gotta give a thumbs up to. This may be my pick for funniest episode of the entire show.
Despite the vast amount of people in the fandom voicing their disapproval, I loved this episode. Pure Rarity awesomeness at its finest (some of St. Germain's best voice acting in this role, IMO), and even quite a bit of AJ awesomeness to boot. Had me smiling the whole time.
