Pretty much. It's like parents nowadays have absolutely no faith in what their children are able to handle, so they'll cry "inappropriate!" at just about anything. Dunno about you guys, but I was exposed to much, much darker material as a kid, and I turned out just fine. *assumes fetal position and quietly weeps over Mufasa's death*
I HATE this episode. The basic concept could have been handled MUCH better. But the writing was just bad for applejack. She was overbearing, controlling, and just an all around b****. I like applejack but she was VERY out of character for her. I honestly would have imagined rarity having those qualities. It wasn't even comical. (as I'm assuming they were going for) the best part of this episode was the reference to Greek mythology (the chimera) and the part where applejack caught scootaloo in the bow hand hat closet ( I actually found that concept amusing) once again no song... I guess they're kinda evening it out after the return of flutterguy... Idk... I miss the music... This season has had good music. Not sure why they suddenly stopped... Anyways! I don't like that there were like 7 ponies this week... (Aside from the redneck swamp ponies) the episode was just bad... 2/10 +0.5 for the chimera.
I enjoyed this episode. We got to see Flordia Ponies, and the overbearing nature of applejack worked well. Anyone who has to care for a child knows how hard it is to not be constantly at there child's side. The feeling of wanting to protect them sometimes overshadows there need to grow. Not only that but some who have to take on a parental role don't want there child to grow up. Usually because the parent wants them to stay around and they will feel unneeded after he/she starts there own family. Coming from a bespecaled pony who had to be the parent of his newborn half brother due to ppd yeah i could see both happen. I also see why AJ could feel like a mother to AB. Paternal bonds break the biological barrier any foster parent can tell you that.
It's not so much Applejack overdoing it that bothers me. It's that big stupid grin that never leaves her face during that whole thing. This grin that basically says "I'm fully aware that I'm being a ridiculous, overprotective idiot right now but I don't care because I love annoying my sister to death." I'm surprised that they refrained from throwing in Twilight's unhinged grin from "Lesson Zero" for good measure.
This one was weird for me. AJ was way OOC. If she really were that paranoid I don't think AB would ever see the light of day, or wander around town with her friends like she does all the time. Or go to the Crystal Empire. Or do anything. It's like she snapped overnight. Just a very weird setup. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
Applejack never had to leave her to take care of herself for a full day before. Imagine the stress of that feeling. Like many people here already said, i think she was a bit over the top, but not OOC in the least.
In my opinion, this thread is about seasaon 4. Seasaon. Seriously, has no one noticed the typo in the title?
Actually Americans are just constantly taking them out. The US is the only place in the world where colour is spelled without the 'U' (which technically breaks the pronunciation of the word, you just choose to pronounce it incorrectly, as it used to be spelled). English.
If America does something one way, and the rest of the world does it another way, then the rest of the world is wrong.
This mentality stops working when you think about pounds (lbs.) as a unit of measurement. If the rest of the world is wrong in using kilograms (kg.) why do you define a pound as exactly 0.45359237 kilograms? This is quite literally the case. Similar story for distance. Units.
Comparing America to others always reminds me of this. [Mild Language]
Actually, the Avoirdupois pound is based on ancient system originally based on the weights of certain grains. The current definition came about in 1959, when America realized that other countries weren't smart enough to understand the system, and decided to make things easier for them.
The ancient system of grams was inflated, and provided an even more inconvenient system of conversion into metric, which is what the units defined by nearly all sciences. Namely, the conversion from pound-feet per second squared to kilogram-meters per second squared was both long and tedious. EDIT: THis thread is about Seasaon 4 some episode or other. This is what should be discussed. Start another thread if you want to continue the subject.
