    I think it's really just to introduce you to some of the more active members on a very basic level, and possibly to rack up a few posts so you can lift the restrictions on your account (assuming they still have those on this new site?).

    Tbh, intro threads don't usually last more than a couple of pages, and that's only for the new members that actually respond/stick around, which is fewer than I'd like.

    The 'Ask me' threads are for people wishing to ask questions of any members, regardless of their tenure here.
