Um, you know there's a dedicated 'ask me' part of the forum, right? Not being sarky or anything, just genuinely assuming you haven't spotted it yet x3
I think it's really just to introduce you to some of the more active members on a very basic level, and possibly to rack up a few posts so you can lift the restrictions on your account (assuming they still have those on this new site?). Tbh, intro threads don't usually last more than a couple of pages, and that's only for the new members that actually respond/stick around, which is fewer than I'd like. The 'Ask me' threads are for people wishing to ask questions of any members, regardless of their tenure here.
The Intro section is basically just to let people know that there's a new member of the forum. Simply put, it's your opportunity to make a good first impression.
Believe me, opening an Ask me theard while you're still new is probably some of the worst things to do :/
Because nobody will actually be friends with you enough to actually want to know more about you.Trust me, I've done this before.I'll just end up for the search-for-non-existence-replies :/ Oh, and.... 5000+ posts?WTF? http://prntscr.com/7n5ujf
