Miss Pauling sat alone in the dusty, dark basement, waiting for her new mercenaries to be thrown down the stairs. Though a few of them were going to be empty, nine rusty metal chairs sat around her small desk, which, upon further inspection was actually just a crate. The first mercenary was soon sent flying down...
Mick walked in, his footsteps surprisingly quiet for a man his size. After quickly scanning the room for any unpleasant surprises, he sat down across from Miss Pauling. Almost immediately, the chair buckled and broke under his tremendous bulk. With a sigh, he stood up, set the remains of the chair in the corner, and took a seat on the floor.
"Unhand me! Nein, nein!" Shouting could be heard from upstairs. Gunter was tossed like a ragdoll down the stairs. He got up and dusted off his cheap, costume store labcoat, and took a seat on the chair closest to the entrance, muttering curses in German.
"...And ah'm gonna [CLASSIFIED] ya until you're just a [CLASSIFIED] [CLASSIFIED] and then ah'm gonna [CLASSIFIED] [CLASSIFIED]!" Finn DeGroot shouted, before being thrown down the stairs. He stood up, muttering a flurry of curses, and took a seat next to the doctor-like man. After a few moments of silence, Finn finally spoke. "Give me back me bloody sword!", he demanded.
Mick looked at the angry Scottish curiously, and pointed to Miss Pauling. "There is a woman present. Watch your language." He briefly wondered why the other two men in the room had been tossed down the stairs. The guards had been exceedingly polite to him.
"Thanks!" The girl walked down the stairs and saw the rusty chairs. "Uch..." She reluctantly say on One of The chairs. "At your service..."
Astasia was quickly pushed down the stairs, her head covered in a burlap bag as she barely maintained her footing on the way. "Это как раз Афганистане." she mumbled as she pulled the bag off before taking a seat in one of the chairs.
"Alright, so is dis where I'm supposed ta be-HEY! The hell are ya-WHOA!" Unlike the other much more muscle bound people here, it only took a sturdy push to send Avery tumbling down the stairs, landing her right on her face. So much for looking awesome... She picked herself up off the concrete and shook her fist at the top of the staircase. "Ya just wait till I get up dere! You wont be so smug den, will ya?!" She let out a loud sigh before glancing back at everyone else. Did they just see that? "Whatta ya lookin at?" She said, much more quietly this time.
"Uh... Right. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to RED team. You all got your letters, so I'll skip the intro. Take the thiiis teleporter..." Miss Pauling said, lifting out a heavy toolbox from under her desk. "...And head out to a pair of bases in Teufort. You'll have to get through the ruins of both bases to find a briefcase. Do not read it, do not eat it, do not burn it. Bring it back here, kill anyone who tries to stop you." The teleporter soon sprang to life, whirling wildly. "You'll get your weapons back when you arrive, along with a communications device. Now head on out, and don't drink the water."
"Well. Is better then sitting here and getting Tetanus? Ja?" Gunter got up, and stood on the teleporter. He looked down, and nothing was happening. "Does it usually take this lo-" Suddenly, he felt as if his body was being stretched. Painfully. He was moving extremely fast too. Was he even on Earth anymore? He wondered. It seemed as if this was a place between dimensions, a place of infinite knowledge, think of all the things he could learn! There was a flash of red light, and his body was put back together in dilapidated wooden building.
"Oh,me! Me next!" Leah sprang up and popped onto the teleported and saluted to everyone before teleporting to the ruins of teufort. "Woah...this place is amazing!" She jumped off and looked around. "We're supposed to find a briefcase in this place?! Challenge ACCEPTED!" She shouted but kept quiet realizing the building could crash down on them.
Avery blinked and watched on blankly, trying to wrap her mind around the situation. First off, why the hell would she or anyone else eat a briefcase? Second, who the hell was gonna try and- Her thought process was quickly cut off as the medic disappeared into an array of red sparks, followed by the sniper. "Th-that...that actually worked. Dat's a real teleporteh!" Her hollow gaze suddenly bloomed into an excited, fascinated smile. Before anyone else could get a word out the girl lowered her goggles over her eyes and rushed on top of the device. "Me next! Me next!" The teleporter took a few extra seconds to spin up again after the initial ports before the flash of red engulfed her. Now, she liked going fast. But going at that speed while in pain and being completely out of control was another story! When she arrived, her happy look had now dissolved into a look of shock. Slowly, she stepped off the teleporter and slammed down on her backside, letting out a small, shaky moan. "Maybe I shoulda...went last...." That would sure take some getting used to. After a deep breath, Avery finally took the time to view her surroundings. "What a dump!" She said bluntly as she stood herself up and glanced at the other two. "Well...now what? If we're gonna get that briefcase we're gonna need weapons."
Somewhat in disbelief, Astasia slowly stepped onto the teleporter. She was expecting to see something more along the lines of Star Wars but this is enough to get herself sick through the trip. As appeared through the other, she stumbled off, sick to her stomach. "This is worse than submarine trip to America..." she said before walking over to the safes, or at least more specifically, the one with "Spy" on it.
Avery let out a quiet chuckle at the demoman's entrance, along with the spy's reaction. "I know the feelin, lady." As she spoke, she noticed the woman wander over to the lockers, the only things that didn't look like they'd been left to rot. Out of curiosity, she walked over and decided to check the one labeled "scout". A little look-see wouldn't hurt.
She checked the one labeled "pyro" simply for fun and saw an adorable red purse with a flower on it. "OH MAH GOD THIS PURSE IS SO KYOOOOOT!!!!" She quickly snatched it and opened it and saw a pair of goggles in it. "Woah...how did these get here?" She put them on and compared the difference of her vision by putting on the goggles and then lifting them up again. "Woah...I'm taking these as a souveneir." She put the goggles back in the purse and put the purse away. "This place is pretty cool."
Mick wordlessly picked up his weapon and stepped onto the teleporter. After a brief trip through... somewhere... he found himself in a dilapidated building, staring at a set of curiously un-dilapidated lockers. Following the lead of his teammates, he snapped the padlock off of the one labeled 'Heavy' and looked inside. Other than a plastic bag containing the decayed remains of what was probably once a sandwich, the only thing inside was an old pair of sunglasses, which he took for himself.
Finn chuckled, walking to the Demoman safe. "C'Mon... Big money, big money..." he mumbled. Once the door opened, the Demoman let out a gasp. "Bloody hell! Eyelander, how'd ya get here? Y'know what? Don't care. I got me 'nade launcher back!" He grabbed the only things of value in his safe. His sword, his grenade launchers, and his detonator. Not much was left, aside from a dusty, empty bottle and a handful or two of cobwebs.
Gunter opened his safe. Enclosed was a backpack with a tube running out of it into a strange gun, a crude looking bone saw with a syringe taped to it, and a crossbow that seemed to shoot syringes. He slipped on the backpack, and stored the other two weapons in his coat. "Vell, ze sooner ve get zat briefcase, ze sooner ve get out, ja?"
Inside her locker, Avery would find a sport's bag among the cobwebs and dust bunnies. Upon opening it, she'd find a sawed off shotgun, a pistol with wings and toxic signs etched on each side, and finally, to her surprise, her baseball bat and ball she'd taken with her. How the hell it ended up in there she had no idea, but hey, convenience! She grinned down at the items before putting the pistol and bat back into her bag, and slipping her baseball into her pocket. "I agree with doc here. Let's get our asses movin!"
Astasia opened up her's to find several odd objects. She pulled a large revolver with the image of woman engraved around the barrel, a butterfly knife, a box with clamps on it, a gold watch, and a cigarette case with both cigarettes and party masks in it. "This reminds me of birthday party in Cuba." She said as stored most of the items inside her coat before putting the watch on. "They are poor country, really." She began fidgeting with watch to set the time.
