I always hear about the people who defeat depression, but never hear from people who have suffered from it long term. I've been depressed since 5th/6th grade and it hasn't gotten better. I've done therapy, medication, volunteer work, nothing has really done anything. I don't even enjoy stuff that I used to love. Music, gaming, sports... I know how hurtful it can be to your family if you decide to end it, which is why I haven't done it yet.

And it doesn't really help that I'm scared of our world. Hearing about ISIS, war, human trafficking, it's not very inviting. All I do is go to school, come home, sleep, repeat. I don't have many friends, and it's a wonder how I even managed to get a girlfriend. Even she is starting to slip from my life. I guess I'm scared of being an adult. I don't want my life to revolve around work and money, I just want everyone to chill out and stop hating eachother. But I digress.

Anyone willing to share your story? Have things gotten better over time? If not, how do you cope?

I don't think you ever beat depression, I just think over time you keep trying and eventually, everyone will find a mechanism and support system that works for them.

The thing with depression is you can't ever beat it, but you can certainly stop it from beating you. The biggest thing in the fight is to manage stress. Find what helps relieve stress and if possible remove the sources of the stress. For myself the biggest source of stress came from the household I was in. The day I moved out from there ended up being the biggest push against depression I had ever made. Sure, the depression hasn't gone away, even today I'm feeling kinda a heavy bout, but it doesn't bother me, cause I know after a couple of hours of subjecting myself to some great comedy, it'll be right back in the corner.

So yes, it does get better. You just have to be strong enough till you figure out what you need to do to hold your ground.

Sorry to hear you was feeling this way my fellow brony,
I find I'm very reclusive and tend to like my own space, your probably the same.

I think you should try work for your self, set up your own company doing something you enjoy,
nobody ever got rich working for somebody else.

maybe you'd like some adventure in your life instead??
well if you can get over to Pitcairn, they're giving away free land to settlers.

If not maybe you'd like to help out with the new Bronycoin online currency I'm working on?

Your correct in your feeling, I've had a thought like yours in the past, but a noble man wouldn't put his family through that.

I hope what ever you decide to do with your life, you prosper sir.
