Hi, I was wondering something Why does everypony like Maud Pie so much? I'm not hating just very curious for about it. Thanks
I think it's because, since she has no real physical personality, everyone gets to make one up for themselves! Spoiler: Just look at this! Is she annoyed there's a crocodile in her hair? Is she happy Gummy likes her? Is she ecstatic to see Pinkie Pie? Is she thinking about what she had for lunch? Who knows! You get to make it up! At least, that's what I think about it. Probably because she's pretty much a blank slate.
I think it's because she's the most stoic character in the show, but doesn't lack for emotional responses. A lot of people, including one of my brothers, are like that in real life, and so it makes her a believable character that a decent number of people can identify with. Her character is also written to pander slightly to those with a more deadpan sense of humor, so she would appeal to those people as well.
It's because of how different she is from the rest of the cast. Almost all the other characters outside of two-parters are quirky and over the top in some way or another {Discord and Pinkie being the most obvious}, whereas the comedy with Maud comes from her dry, deadpan voice and style of speaking as well as how she just doesn't emote very often. She's a unique character who's quirky in a very different way, and she's a great character Foil to the hyperactive Pinkie as well as just about anyone else.
For me she is interesting for 2 reasons, 1. Her interesting relationship with Pinkie Pie, 2. Her hilariously weird character.
