Elitists who *squee!* on any music simply because they're on the pop charts or not 'deep'. It's terrible on /r/music.
A couple things have annoyed me recently. 1. NICKI MINAJ -- A lot of people seem to be giving Nicki Minaj credit lately for producing songs and music that are healthy for women because they promote acceptance of a body type with more curves. Minaj herself has tweeted about how she is a good person (i.e. better than other musicians) for promoting "curves." The problem? "Curves" is a broad category; it can refer to large amounts of body fat... or just large breasts and butts. Admittedly, sometimes it refers to both simultaneously. Nicki Minaj's videos and songs clearly maximize on the latter while excluding the former, but she gets away with it by using an ambiguous label to conflate the acceptance of sexualizing the female form with the acceptance of people with different body sizes. To do this and then promote oneself as being more politically correct than other artists is both dishonest and delusional. I have no opinion on her music or the fact that she uses sex in her art (there's nothing inherently wrong with that) but it bothers me that she's either a liar or so ignorant of the nature of her own work that she can't see she's making the same mistake about people with different body types that she criticizes everyone else for making. 2. THEMES IN WRITING -- Themes in art are cool. They're neat and interesting, but I can guarantee you that no writer of quality has ever started out by thinking what themes they wanted to write about and then produced a legendary work of art based solely on that. Prose comes from story concept, from characterization and mastery of language. Those things lead into themes, producing them such that the reader sees it all as one big picture. Anyone who thinks of themes as the end-all-be-all in writing is neither a practiced writer nor a competent reader. That too.
McDonalds Existing- I know it sounds conceded but I really hate the very existence of the chain. Everything there will kill you and make you so heavy that if I could label the cause of Morbid Obesity, I'd point at McDonalds. Honestly, I hate eating there. About the only thing I'd get from there is their coffees, if there wasn't any other coffee shops worth going to. Dumbass Party Students - I'm more talking about college and university frats. I know that not all of them are bad, but there are those few dumbasses that giggle or chuckle for pegging a innocent pedestrian with a XL foam cup full of dark soda and ice. Or the whole drunken riots *squee!*. Every Halloween around here, there is always some kinda riot going on.
*squee!*s who act like I have no right to ride my bike on the sidewalk. I'm not riding in traffic at night with drunks on the road, and anybody who doesn't like it can kiss the fattest part of my ass. I'm not going any faster than an average jogger, anyway.
Those little signs people put in their car windows that tell you there are kids on board; like I'd purposely run into them otherwise or something.
