You could just walk away knowing you ruined the most important day of their life? WOW! I'm speechless.

I guess everyone is different but I have to say, knowing I'd done something like that would eat me alive!

Please see A Friend in Deed and notice where Twilight advises Pinkie to leave Cranky alone for a while since she ruined his stuff.

Pinkie is annoying as hell anyway. I think Sparky had a WAY better reason than her to be that persistent. She deeply hurt Moondancer and was trying to right a wrong whereas Pinkie and Cranky had no prior relationship. But it seems like we won't see eye to eye on this no matter what either of us says so I'll just leave on that.

I liked this episode. A LOT. I don't even know where to begin with this episode. Here's a summary though:

Nostalgia all around. Character development all around. Feels all around.

This was just an all around GREAT episode.

P.S.: Looks like the Luna episode is next. I'm looking forward to that one.

    :omg:

Keep in mind that after getting more and more on Moondancer's nerves, Twilight ended up calling in Pinkie Pie.

The party was still Sparky's idea though.

Because Pinkie Pie is an expert party planner.

If you wanted to throw an extremely important party, wouldn't it make sense to bring in an expert?

This wasn't my favorite episode of the season, and I can see where both sides are coming from. Personally I found it a little weird, but I also understood. I myself can hold grudges for a long time because I'm not good at social situations. I don't do a lot of opening up to people, and when someone I like enough to consider a friend does something like that, I take it as a great offense. So no, Moondancer didn't need to have feelings for Twilight to shut herself off after the experience, and no she didn't need to have a strong bond with her. It looked more to me like Moondancer had considered Twilight to be her only friend. The others were Twilight's friends to her (no, it doesn't say that, it's just my interpretation). So, when Twilight didn't come to her party and left without saying goodbye, that would leave someone like me feeling very wronged and not too eager to befriend others, so I can see it being the same for Moondancer. I generally don't want to ever see someone again after they've left me, and I tend to think "I'll be better off on my own, without friends or romantic partners." Obviously that's rarely true and doesn't really make sense and most people will come around and start making friends again, but not everyone does. Psychology is highly complex. I don't think Moondancer should have finally accepted Twilight's apology.

HOWEVER, if a friend of mine comes back after hurting me, I tend to eventually give in myself, usually after having a breakdown. And Twilight did make good points. Even if Moondancer didn't want to accept Twilight as a friend again, it's important for most people to have friends. It's down to science. Humans are social creatures (and in this case, anthropomorphized ponies are as well), meaning that we are programmed to have social connections. We usually lead very unfulfilling lives when we don't have friends, family, love interests, etc. It's in our nature. Moondancer wasn't realizing that on her own. She needed help, even though she didn't want to admit it. She needed and wanted friends, or she wouldn't have come around at the end.

So for me... it's an alright episode. I've liked others better, but it wasn't a bad one, IMO.

This was another episode I really loved. I mean.. how many cartoons explore the possible negative ramifications of the actions that lead to the hero's success. I also really enjoyed learning about Moondancer, and finding that she wasn't at all how I expected from that first scene alone. Really this shows willingness to grow and take risks continues to impress me! ^_^

I think you're conflating two wildly different scenarios. Twilight and Moondancer actually had a history together, whereas Pinkie and Cranky were complete strangers. I could definitely see why Pinkie would be advised to give an irritated stranger his space, and I can also see why Twi would want to fight to revive a friendship she never meant to destroy. Both courses of action seemed perfectly appropriate for their respective circumstances.

With all that said, the ending of this episode still left a very bitter taste in my mouth, albeit for completely personal reasons. I know friendship is the show's core theme, and it'd be something of a crime for Moondancer not to rekindle her friendship with the princess of friendship, but...well, when you've recently had a bridge burnt that you know is gone forever, you kinda can't help but think "Pfft, nobody's that forgiving in real life." Call me jaded, I guess. x)

They... really didn't. The show actually shows us that they were never friends to begin with. There's nothing to revive and pushing someone who refuses again and again until they break down is simply NOT "perfectly appropriate" under any circumstances!

Did we even watch the same episode?

Moondancer clearly idolized Twilight, to the point of even styling her mane and tail to match Twilight's.

That's why Twilight's rejection hit her so hard.

So aside from having a similar hairstyle, show me one thing from the episode that suggests Moondancer "idolized" Twilight.

According to you and you alone. I'd appreciate if you didn't shove what YOU would personally do in a certain situation down other people's throats as if it were law. Thanks.

I can push and shove my preferences down your throat until you break down in a rage and it'd be totally okay according to you :p

I think the slap-you-in-face obviousness of the matching hairstyle should be enough.

If it somehow isn't, there's also the fact that Moondancer was so broken up that Twilight missed her party that she turned into a complete recluse.
