Max blushed as he touched her horn; didn't he realise how sensitive they could be? "Um, yes, of course," She said, levitating the rest of the supplies into position.
Once they were back in the hospital, looking out of the hole at the construction site, Max wasn't sure she'd be able to carry much from that distance; she was used to moving small objects precisely at close range, during surgery and other medical procedures. She was no construction pony.
ace sighed and moved one item at a time "this might take some time" he told her as the first sheet of mettle got to them "plus im going to do this as i pull them up, so if you want to go finish that book you can" he said with a smile
Max thought for a moment. "Well... I did want to check out all the medical machines..." She nodded. "Alright; but if you need any help, just call me on my Pipbuck, okay?"
ace gave a confused look but nodded "oh...kay...i will if i need it" he then started to patch the hole
Max headed back down to the third level, to begin her inspection. She started with the machines she was familiar with; x-rays, sonograms, a basic auto-doc... She made sure they were powering up, and still calibrated correctly, before running them through some basic procedures. Much to her delight, they all seemed to be working perfectly, after a little adjustment. The other machines, such as deep-thought scanners and medical stasis pods, she was less familiar with, and so just checked them for obvious damage, deciding she'd read some of the books she'd seen about them in Ace's room before fiddling with them too much.
((time skip?)) ace continued to work, bringing the mettle to sandwitch the insalation and the boards to give it support in all honest truth he had never done this but having been a drafter he knew where there needed to be support plus any fool could use a power tool
(Yeah, just use your discretion.) After a while, Max decided to head upstairs again, to see how Ace was getting on; her conscious was eating at her again. She needed to find somepony to help; to do some good and prove to herself she wasn't the monster she feared she was. She needed to head back out into the wastes...
ace was placing the last support board in when she arrived other then the mettle, the exposed wood, the lack of a window, and the cracked tile you would have never know that there had been a crane in the room "oh...hay max i just need to put this last screw in and........im done" he said giving her a big smile as he climbed down the ladder....that he must have found
"Hey, good job!" Max enthused, looking at what he'd done. "That should hold out the weather." "So, are you ready to get back out there?" She asked, once he'd come down off the ladder and tidied up the tools.
"maybe after i use the bathroom but ya i could go back out into the hell witch we now call our country" ace said smiling at his joke for a few seconds before he frowned form the truth of it
Max smiled sadly at that. "Hell is other ponies..." She said, looking a bit distant. She looked down for a moment, then looked back to Ace. "I'll just get my things, then we'll try and figure out exactly where to go; it's information we need mostly. Neither of us really have any idea what's out there, where we might find ponies that need help, any areas we should avoid... We need to find a pony who can tell us the lay of the land."
ace frowned he didnt like most of that but if they wanted to help ponies they did need to do this "ok...but wear my duster" he said taking it off "its armored and unlike you i have combat training" he said handing it to her
Max took the coat, and immediately almost dropped it, unprepared for the weight. "How do you walk around in this thing?!" She asked, shocked. "I'll be like an armoured snail, if I wear this,"
Max sighed, then put the duster on over her coat and jumpsuit. She walked around the room a couple of times, and found that the extra weight did indeed slow her down, though she had to admit; she did feel very well protected... "I don'r know... do you think my rump looks big in this?" She asked, jokingly.
Max blushed, and headed back to her room to collect her the things she would be taking with her. Her 10mm pistol, she strapped to her side this time, to avoid it getting too dusty; her hunting rifle, she still only had one shot for, but she slung across her back, in case they found more ammo; and her saddlebags, she filled with as many bottles of water and medical supplies as she could easily carry. When she was all ready, she could only trot; she was weighed down far too much to run, so she hoped the duster was as protective as Ace said; she certainly wasn't going to be diving for cover very quickly... She waited outside Ace's door, and double checked all her supplies and equipment.
ace walked true his sword sniper and 44 mag. now easily visible "ok lead the way" he said closing the door behind him
