Angra do Heroísmo, Azores Islands, Portuguese Empire. July 21st 1479, 6:42am. Angra was a very underpopulated settlement, only being recently colonized and made as a settlement as little as almost thirty years ago. The settlement's location itself, being well over a 800 miles from mainland Portugal alongside it's geography made settlement difficult and unattractive. The Portuguese island, however, had one very poor problem regarding it's location. It was on the doorstep of the seemingly mythical Atlantis, which no European power believed existed, yet alone had the courage to discover. The Azores was supposed to be the furthest west that any European power had ventured into the unknown. The sleepy settlement would never knew what hit them, as mysterious ships much more advanced to the almost primitive Portuguese ones came from the Western seas. The ships carried warriors with Silver/Platinum-white hair and Violet eyes. Along with an unknown language, these men looked superhuman. They looked human, yet they were not at the same time. Physically and mentally, they were far beyond that of the common man. Angra was taken in less then five minutes, it's entire colonial population wiped out. The attack was terrifying efficient, not even a single invader was killed yet alone harmed during the fight. The ships continued to travel across the seas, numbering in untold numbers, as the invasion force began to retake their ancient land of Aulavin, now known today as Europe. This is the First Conquest, and there would be no warning for what would come next.
Leah sat up from her bed and yawned... "Ah...what a beautiful day." She put on her glasses and put on her more casual clothing,which would just be a shirt,vest,boots,and pants. She brushed her hair and grabbed her shield,just incase anyone was gonna try to kill her in the morning. She thought maybe she could pay a quick visit to a friend who was living in Angra since she sent a letter about a month ago and never got anything back. So she went to look for anyone who would accompany her.
Finn got up from the table in the local inn and belched loudly. His belly was full from the stew and ale he had just finished. He handed the barmaid a silver coin and grinned. "Keep th' change, lass." It was an unusually large tip for such a simple meal, but it was the best stew he'd had in months. Leaving the inn, he walked outside into the morning sun. It was a nice day. Not a cloud in the sky, and a light breeze to cool the air. He walked to the stable and asked for his horse, which was quickly brought out by the stable boy. He climbed into the saddle and tossed the lad a copper, then rode slowly towards the edge of town.
Kobruk looked out across the Atlantic from the beach. A long journey from the Ottomans and Constantinople. A long journey from home. Still, it was a journey worth a thousand steps to end up in Spain. Granted, he still couldn't understand the language, he knew enough to understand a few requests, demands, and threats. He sat down, enjoying a view for more beautiful than the hills back in the empire.
Lisbon, Iberian Peninsula, Portuguese Empire. July 21st 1479, 3.41pm. In the distance, hundreds of ships were spotted by the Portuguese navy of the coast of the capital. The population went along its normal day as usual, although a few figures in the military were more then skeptical about the arrival of so many ships. Then, a noise as loud as thunder. One of the ships fired a blue orb of energy out of it's cannon and landed in the middle of the town center, exploding and completely destroying a huge chunk of the city with the shockwave alone. One more precise hit was aimed at the castle, destroying it in a single blow and anything nearby it. This was a clear invasion, and the Portugese used their 15th century ships to fight against this much more advanced enemy. Their whole navy was eradicated in less then a minute, and the Portugese were now defenceless as the first invasion force landed on the now ruined city.
Leah panicked and sprinted back towards her house and got her long sword and armour equipped in an instant. She saw the invasion armor and the destruction that has just been caused. She knew they were no match. As much as glory,hinir,dignity and pride goes this was not worth any of it. She had to evacuate as much people as possible.
After hours of riding, Finn finally could see Lisbon in the distance. When he arrived in the city, he would sell his horse, get himself a hot meal, and board a ship bound for a port near Rome. As he rode, looking forward to his supper, he noticed a strange orb of light moving towards the city at an astonishing speed. Moments later, a massive explosion shook the earth. Finn was barely able to stay on his horse as the terrified animal reared and bolted. After managing to get the horse back under control, he took a look at the city. "God in Heaven... whit jist happened?" Half of Lisbon had ceased to exist.
The first boats docked on the shoreline, menacingly approaching Lisbon before finally the first landing boats made it to the beach itself, just as a scattered defence of the surviving city guard and military had prepared a defence against them. One hundred humanoid figures, wearing an armour as black as ebony and hair as silver as diamonds, marched with strange looking swords and other blades into the surviving defence of 4,500 men who valiantly held the line. Then...the line was broken in a heartbeat. The speed and strength of these men were superhuman, their armour stronger then the most durable forts, their weaponry...devastating. Lisbon was taken in 5 minutes, but that would pale in comparison to the rest of the invasion force heading in its way. Ships unbeknownst to Europe, began to approach Ireland, France, Morocco, Scotland and Norway. It would take a few days for the rest of the invasion force to arrive, but this shock invasion was the start of the European downfall.
As Alakesh walked, a bright light came to the distance. He felt a bit annoyed at it, as it couldn't let him see, so he looked to the cause. He saw the blue orb and the explosion. "What the...!" he said. He put his book on his back and looked around. He found a horse, possibly from someone, and got on it, the quickly galloped to where he saw the explosion. It was just a few kilometers from there, so the journey wouldn't be that long. Once he arrived to a hill that lead to the city, he saw it half destroyed. He looked around for survivors near the area. How the hell did half city just... exploded?! He then looked down and saw about a hundred man against abut 4000 soldiers or more. It was hard to tell. Soon, the soldier fell and the centenar of the black figures survived. He looked at it horrorizad, then calmed down and saw the fleet at the distance go to other places. Most likely to the rest of the country. Once he saw it was safe, Alakesh galloped the hors into the remains of the city, looking for survivors
A single armored figure approached the man on horseback. He walked with the confidence of a god among insects. The lone horseman was an afterthought, a bit of sport to extend the day's fun. "Ah dunnae kinn fa ye ur, but yoo're gonnae regrit thes, laddie." Finn jumped off his horse and fired his pistol at the man's head. The force of the impact jarred his head back, but his helmet held. The Atlantean laughed. The primitives were brave, but stupid. They would all be dead soon. "Braw, I'll dae thes th' stoaner way!" Finn rushed the armored warrior, avoiding a blow from a strange sword and tackling the man to the ground. He drew his dirk, striking again and again, searching for a chink in the armor. It wasn't doing much good. Even at the joints, the blade didn't sink deep enough to do serious damage. The two men wrestled for several minutes, Finn's God-given abilities matched by the Atlantean's technological augmentations. Eventually, Finn's years of experience won out, and he gained the upper hand. With a brutal headbutt from the Scotsman, the armored man's helmet was knocked loose. Finn tore the helmet off, reached for his remaining pistol, and fired a ball of hot lead into his foe's forehead. Finn slowly climbed to his his feet and stared at his fallen enemy. "Requiescant in pace... ye son ay a whoor'."
Leah got on horse back and saw Finn while running and grabbed his arm and pulled him onto the horse. "WE GOT TO GO! WE AREN'T A MATCH FOR THESE GUYS!" She keeps pushing the horse past it's limit and saw Alakesh up ahead. "WE NEED TO RUN! FOLLOW ME!" She screamed as she sped through and between pieces of rubble from the town.
Lisbon was occupied, and it was surprisingly left intact despite half of the town being leveled. There was virtually no form of resistance whatsoever from the human defenders as the Atlantians made their way towards town, the 100 troopers now being reinforced by another 10,000 better-armed, better trained and much more experienced forces every hour. As the sun was slowly beginning to set, more then 20,000 soldiers paraded through the streets with the humiliated human captives, one special figure rode into the ruins of Lisbon on a horse as white a snow. The man was wearing a uniform as majestic and beautiful as it was fearsome and terrifying, wearing an important black and gold armor with various ancient-appearing details clad in matching colors. The man on the horse had long white hair and had a sharp jaw as he looked at his own Atlantian soliders, and the defeated human survivors, before raising his blade towards the sun and yelling a warcry. "Anretnaee Enister!" (Atlantia Eternal!) The white haired man cried out, to which the soldiers roared loud enough to be heard from miles away. Lisbon was conquered, and fairly soon, so would the rest of Western Europe.
As soon as Alakesh noticed that the town was occupied and the people enslaved, he pulled his horse back and started galloping away. There was not that much to be done for them right now. At least they were not salvage enough to kill the surrendered civilians. As he escaped, he saw a man that had killed one of th- he killed him?! How?! He then trotted the horse to where Finn was until he saw at the distance another of those big guys, as well as more soldiers. The shout, god knows what it means, made him have a chill run trough his spine. This was bad. Really bad.
The white haired man on horseback looked at the surviving human civilians, worn and weary already from the sudden occupation of the entire capital. The man looked around the destroyed city, silently knowing that attack almost meant nothing in comparison to the other landing fleet landing in Northern Portugal, which would then head into Northern Spain. The captain cleared his throat and decided to speak in...English? "People of Aulavin, you have not been conquered today. You have been liberated!" The officer spoke. "For millennia, you have been fighting petty wars against one another, living in poverty and stricken by disease. Even now, as we marched through your streets, many of your fellow humans are on the ground at the verge of death. Allow me to ask you this. What sort of a leader does this? What leader allows his own people to die? What sort of abusive and twisted deity allows the suffering of his own children?" The officer spoke, watching the people in terror suddenly begin to ask themselves questions.
Leah was just in earshot and returned to the 'alien' who was speaking. And with she replied with "you speak the truth...but a leader would never destroy a castle! Anyone could've chosen a more passive approach. No one completely obliterates approach castle approached starts speaking of freedom as if nothing happened! NO ONE!"
The Atlantean leader's speech was interrupted as the men on either side of him were shot down in rapid succession. Finn, an Atlantean pistol in his hand, leveled the weapon at the man and walked to the front of the crowd. "Allaw me tae ask ye thes. Whit sort ay a leader diz thes? Whit leader allows his ain fowk tae die?" He spoke as calmly as could, but he couldn't keep the anger from his voice. "God doesnae create human sufferin'. Evil men loch ye dae."
The man scoffed at the two of them, looking at these two humans try and backtalk him. Not exactly amused, he rudely looked at the two people lower then him. "And who are you to talk about me about what sort of leader the Emperor is? What sort of fools do you take us for?" The man on the horse spoke. "I do not question the Emperor's judgement, harsh as it might be sometimes, but I will not allow the common man to speak to me like I'm merely a child. The Emperor has seen no peaceful future to any co-existence between our two races, we've studied your history closely and the people on this continent can barely last a century without needlessly murdering on another based on religion." The man on horseback eyed Finn closely, all the while the rest of his troopers went into formation and aimed their rifles and swords directly at the man. "Atlantis has seen the Apocalypse once, we will ensure that it never happens again."
Finn looked at the Atlantean with disgust. He hated hypocrites. "Ye woods stop an apocalypse by creatin' one? Ur ye mad ur jist daft?!" The crowd was getting restless. Most were terrified, but a few had been emboldened by seeing two of the seemingly unstoppable soldiers brought down by their own weaponry. One small boy, no older than ten, ran forward and grabbed the gun of one of the fallen Atlanteans. Trembling, he lifted the weapon and pointed it at the soldiers.
The soldiers aimed their rifles at the child, all wearing full-head helmets that made their expression impossible to read. The crowd gasped as they watched helplessly at the young boy, petrified as he was, hold the rifle at the soldiers. The man on horseback turned around and rode away, leaving the area with disappointment. He raised his fist into the air as he rode away, he had to help with the rest of the invasion. "Wephi mir ie. Tmi hsiemhes smsiss fi lieheiv ssiil" (Wipe them out. The faithful shall be reunited later) The Atlantian Officer spoke, vanishing from the crowd before the soldiers rifles broke into a frenzy, very quickly turning the confrontation into a massacre as civilians dropped left and right in the dozens, then in the hundreds, then the thousands by the heavy weaponry.
