Jay gave a small smile and walked to them and sat down "Sooo.....your just not going to talk?" Ace asked Jay nodded "And how long are you going to do this?" Jay shrugged
Max realised this was probably some psychological reaction to the shock of discovering that her saviours were also the ones who had put her life in jeopardy, bit it wasn't really her area of expertise. She would have to look into it... "But, you want to stay with us?" She asked, carefully.
"Alright..." Max said, slowly, trying to figure out what to do next, "Well, I don't think you need to stay in the recovery room any more, so I suppose you can stay in one of the doctors' offices while you make up your mind. They're back upstairs," She said, gesturing towards the elevator, hoping Jay would still be willing to follow them at least.
When the reached the third floor, Max lead Jay to the rooms. "You can have either of these two," She explained, gesturing to the two empty rooms, "That one is mine and Ace's," She added, blushing slightly, "And the other one..." She looked at the door to her mother's room, "Please don't enter that one." She turned back to Jay. "Okay?"
"Why?" Jay said finaly breaking her silence Ace walked into his and max's room but was still listening
Max sighed, and looked at her. "I know you're having trouble trusting us right now, but believe me when I tell you there is nothing to interest you in there. You can do what you like while you are here, but the one thing I ask is that you respect my wishes, and leave that room alone." She didn't really want to tell Jay about her mother right now, but she didn't want to push her further away either. "Perhaps one day, if you decide to join us, I will explain." She offered, after a long pause.
Jay smiled and nodded as she turned to a room and entered it Ace walked back out and put a hoof on maxs shoulder and gave her a smile
Max let out a long sigh, then turned and smiled at Ace as he touched her shoulder. She nuzzled his hoof a little, then looked at the time on her Pipbuck; it was mid afternoon, and too late to go out looking for any more ponies, but there was still something else they needed to do... "Those skeletons outside the front door," Max said, a little sadly, "Let's put them to rest properly."
Max laid some sheets out in the lobby to place the bones on, and then did likewise. "Do you think we could bury them?" She asked quietly, as they worked, "Or should we just cremate them?"
Max nodded solemnly in agreement, and left for a moment, coming back with a stretcher and some boxes. Once they had put each separate skeleton in a box, they stacked them on the stretcher and took them down to the incinerator. "Do you think we should say anything?" Max asked, after they had loaded the last box onto the incinerator's conveyor belt.
"I don't know if it's our place to say anything.....maybe a moment of silence.....for everypony killed in the hell storm that happened
Ace did the same after moving close to max so they're flanks were touching Ace didn't move till the incinerator was done
Max appreciated Ace's closeness as they paid their respects together, then when it was done, she collected the urns onto the stretcher. There were ten in all. "What shall we do with them now?" She asked, wondering if they should make some sort of memorial or something.
Max thought for a moment. "Well it would be nice if we could bury them in some kind of memorial garden," She said, "But I don't think that's realistic at the moment. It might just have to be a small memorial in the hospital somewhere."
