I feel rather bittersweet about today's episode. On one hand it is the finalization of one of Faust's last original story lines. The CMC have finally earned their cutie marks and have found their place in the world. I really enjoyed seeing Diamond Tiara finally get some backstory, and while some may be annoyed with how quickly it was done, I found that due to her status as a background character it was more than adequate for her and was great to see Silver Spoon and her finally get into a disagreement. I do like how the CMC's new cutie marks allows them to stay as a team with them all being bound not only by bond but now by destiny as well, and it places a bit more importance on the CMC now that they too have a bigger role to play in Equestria rather than just the sisters of the mane 6. But I also find it somewhat bitter as someone who has been with this show since late season 1. It's been a rather long 5 years and seeing characters I had grown so accustomed to seeing seek out their cutie marks finally achieve them was a great yet still sad moment. It is the final plot line left from the show when I first began watching it, the last major thing they really had to wrap up to finally finish all the changes that s1 had set in motion. And so it is a very important episode for me personally, as it is not only a well done episode but feels like the beginning of something new, with all characters having finally sought out and achieved the goals they put out in season 1. It's a weird thing to see something you care for grow.
That was the most hackneyed, rushed, forced, no-effort, fan-pandering, "let's just use a bunch of forgettable songs that blend together into a 500 word fanfiction instead of actually telling a story" episode since Magical Mystery Cure. 2/10 worst of the season so far.
I know! Haha I can't stop laughing at it either. You should have seen it on Twitter. There are meme's of Diamond Tiara's face EVERYWHERE! haha
Anywho the one song that I know can't get out of my head from this episode is Light of Your Cutie Mark....no idea why but I loved that song lol
It probably could have been a decent story. I don't know why that had to force so many songs into it.
for some strange and unknown reason, i think dimond tiara has bi polar, i mean loom at some of the things, her mood changes from sincere/general goodness to hate/envy/and just being mean in general REALLY QUICK and she seems to change her emotions and feelings on subjects really quickely
Dunno what to think about the episode. It's great that they got their cutie marks, but I've been watching since S1, I was hoping it would maybe be a two parter, it felt a bit rushed imo.
If they gave themselves time, they could have had Silver Spoon actually play a part. Explore her actual relationship with Diamond, why are they friends in the first place? Why did Diamond blow up at her like that? Is that something that happens often? Is one of them dependent on the other?
These guys. I wouldn't give it a two, but really the episode just didn't feel like it was worthy of what happened in it.
I was very happy about CMC getting their cutie marks. I loved all of the songs in the episode. I am not sad about it because its the beginning of new adventures for them. They still have to help other ponies, learn about what their cutie marks mean and become better at their talents.
Well... here goes... Let me start off by saying this though... the rest will be in spoilers for obvious reasons. Power sleeps within you... Give it form... ^^^This seems appropriate. (Well that and I've fallen in love with the Kingdom Hearts series once again as I've been playing HD Remix ) Spoiler What can I say really? This episode had "Magical Mystery Cure" vibes all around it. Mostly because it was mostly a musical episode. Was that a good thing or a bad thing? Well... I overreacted when MMC happened. But I've admitted that already. To be honest with you... I guess it wasn't surprising... Considering the "theme" of this season after all (cutie marks/cutie mark magic) I just thought it wouldn't happen until the final season. Spoiler Yup. It happened. The Cutie Mark Crusaders got their cutie marks. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that it disappointed me. It might be better to happen sooner rather than later. However... I'm not really sure about the whole "redeem Diamond Tiara" thing. She's been acting like a jerk for 4 seasons now. That... really didn't make much sense to me. Other than that... good episode for what it was. I can't say much for this episode honestly. I liked the episode. I just don't see how after 4 seasons of jerk Diamond Tiara she deserved a redeeming. It's possible all the stuff before was also due to her jerk mother... but... I don't know. Sorry. I can't like Diamond Tiara now. I just can't do it. But I enjoyed the episode alright?
Yes. One or two in a half an hour episode is fine, but it's called My Little Pony not My Little Musical. Some things can be told by a musical, but after they did that with Twilight becoming an Alicorn I think it was a poor decision to do it again with the CMC getting their cutie marks. This is just my opinion, no one is force to agree with it.
Well, I think it was a good episode all in all, if a bit rushed. Diamond Tiara's heel-face turn came a bit too sudden and her having the excuse of having an overbearing (and downright malicious) mom for her behavior felt a bit too forced, a bit too convenient. Also, while I'm happy that the CMC finally got their cutie marks, I really don't like their designs. So, question: What does the future hold for Diamond Tiara? She was the closest thing the series had to a recurring "villain", so now that the CMC befriended her, will she fade into the background completely or could she still take a somewhat prominent - just more supportive - role? I guess she is kind of the grade school version of Sunset Shimmer now...
I have seen that a lot of people that don't really like the design of the cutie marks but I don't know why. I think the design fits them well because the marks are in the shape of shields for the crusaders, while each one showcases their special talents, yet they are similar keeping them bound together for the future. Plus I like the color scheme because each color represents the colors of their manes. But I do agree with you about Diamond Tiara. I feel like she will soon become like the Crusader's own Sunset Shimmer. I can totally see that happening...
I can't speak for everyone else, but yeah, the shields and especially the matching colors are what bothers me. Did they really need matching cookie-cutter cutie marks to symbolize their friendship? The Mane 6 sure don't need them.
I could refrain from saying something about the episode but since it left an impact on me, I'll say how I felt about it anyways. Well, first of all... the whole thing has so much singing it was pretty off-putting to me. It didn't seem necessary but they probably added it just because so meh. Then there's the fact it seemed incredibly rushed to the point I lost all the feelings and emotions I could have had for it. Especially near the end mark. Their 22 minutes was coming to a stop, and boy, did they try to cram everything in there that they could. The DT thing reminded me a lot of Pacifica Northwest so I can't say I was surprised there. DT was a mega *squee!* for 5 seasons and she changed with singing encouragement right near the end. It's like an on or off switch. No in-between or build up. Just, BAM! there it is. That's how the whole episode felt to me. Quick, rushed, forced, and not natural, gradual, or genuine. It was the 5th anniversary and it really, really seemed like they WANTED to make it emotional... but instead of letting it unfold a bit at a time - they had to fit in all in 22 minutes. And before anyone says "you're looking in to it too much" or "nit picky" or "asking to much" No. Just no. I have not had any major problems with this season until this episode. I dare say it seemed like a dream world or something. So no, I'm not being "that person" for the sake of it. It just didn't seem like it had any pacing or real emotion to me except when it tried to force it. Least favorite episode of this season easily, but as an overall standpoint - I didn't like it in that aspect either. If it's harsh it's not really intended. I honestly watched it twice and still hated it. my thoughts exactly.
