This particular part of the Everfree forest was very ancient, and didn't look as though it had been touched by anypony in centuries. The vegetation was thick, and the air was close, but the strange stone doorway sticking out of the ground at an odd angle looked freshly chiselled, as did the little stone alter beside it, with the hoof-shaped recess. The ground around the two structures looked churned up, as though they had been forced up through the very earth itself, and they both seemed to glow slightly with a strange, multicoloured light. The local wildlife seemed to be avoiding the area, but in the distance came the sound of an approaching pony...
Goldie still had no idea why he had been exploring this far into the forest, but soon let go of that question as he approached and saw the stone doorway. The slight glow of it seemed to simply call to him. As he got closer to it, he noticed the short altar with a hoofprint that looked somewhat vaguely familiar. He observed it very closely, then decided to place his own hoof on it to compare the size and shape, unaware of any potential outcomes of this action...
As his hoof touched the stone, it began to vibrate, and the hoofprint glowed brightly. The alter sunk back into the ground, let out a strange humming sound, and something appeared in the doorway; it looked like a thin sheet of water, only it was vertical and full of swirling colours. The view through the doorway no longer matched the forrest behind it either; clearly this was a portal to some other world...
He was simply astonished at this amazement of wonder, and slowly walked up to the thin waterway. As he slowly put his hoof against it, he was slightly surprised at the magical sensation that ran through him in that instant. He decided to slowly move himself through the doorway to see what could possibly be on the other side...
The portal led out onto a cliff-top path, from which could be seen a totally abstract land; there were rolling hills leading into sand dunes and then into icy tundras. The sky was purple, and a flock of playing cards flew overhead.
He looked up at the cards in awe, and studied the land in astonishment and wonder. As he observed and looked around, he started slowly trotting down the cliff-hill he was on, having no idea where in Equestria he could possibly be, or where he could possibly be headed...
At the bottom of the hill was a small clearing in some woods, with a table and some chairs in the middle of it. Eris was sat at the table, having a tea party with two timberwolves and a zebra.
He gasped a little and backed away slightly, and hid a safe distance away and observed them in a bit of fear for the Eris figure, still very unsure of himself in this realm and how to interact with the beings here...
Eris laughed at something the zebra had said, and then seemed to say farewell to her. The zebra stood up, and then disappeared in a puff of smoke, and one of the timberwolves sniffed the air, before turning towards where Goldie was hiding, and speaking to Eris. Eris giggled and looked in his direction as well. "It's alright, you can come out; I'm always happy to have new visitors!"
Eris giggled. "Don't worry, we don't bite!" One of the timberwolves laughed at that. "Well alright; they do, but only if I tell them too." She smiled at the alicorn. "Please, come and have a cup of tea, and tell me what brings you to my realm."
"Uhh...okay..." He slowly worked his way to the table and took a seat. "Well uh...I was just exploring the Everfree Forest and uh...found the portal to here, I guess..."
"Fascinating!" Eris cried, pouring him a cup of tea. "The Everfree Forest? Sounds like a lovely place... do you live there?" She smiled as she sat down opposite him, sipping her own tea.
"Ponyville? Can't say I've heard of it...." She disappeared in a flash, then reappeared on the seat beside Goldie, holding a piece of parchment and a quill. "Can you draw me a map?" She asked, smiling and offering him the drawing supplies.
"Uhh...sure, I guess..." He took the supplies and slowly started to draw the town from his memory, despite his ever-poor drawing skills and ability to draw from memory...
Eris looked at it and laughed a bit. "No silly, I meant a map of how to get there! It's a lot more impressive if I arrive in these places with dramatic flair, rather then just stumbling in by accident..."
"Oh..." He blushed a little bit, then started to draw the path that he took through the forest once again from his mediocre picture memory...
Eris hummed a little tune happily, and ate a piece of cake as she watched Goldie drawing over his shoulder.
He sipped a little bit of tea as he drew, and eventually stopped. "Alright. That uh...that's roughly it, I guess..."
