Sure they all have their own personalities, but can you tell me the difference between their talents?
Well, my chiropractor comes from a large family of chiropractors. His abilities may not be unique but are they any less special because of it?
I find that unlikely. Their marks are all unique, and Applejack's talent has nothing to do with growing apples.
Today's SMBC comic is proving itself quite true in here. And please, discuss the show, not each other's opinions and/or what you think they should do because of them. Seriously, everyone. What you think of the show or how you imagine it is fine, and discussion of such is encouraged, but keep it civil. Thanks!
On last week's episode thread, virtually everyone was just talking about vague "people" out there complaining about transphobia, none of whom were actually in the thread.
It was a relevant topic since some of those people thought Big Mac in a dress was offensive to people who are trans. Even Peter New responded to it on Twitter.
Have you ever sat down to enjoy a nice dinner and had a small child at the table start talking about how disgusting the food is and making those annoying gagging noises? It's kinda the same thing here. A voice of pure negativity can have an adverse effect on an otherwise positive experience.
Er, can you tell me how talking about Cutie Marks has nothing to do with the episode? I think the only thing that has nothing to do with the episode are Ridley comments about Dulset Tarn voicing her opinion here. Which I thought was what this topic was for. I'm going to repeat my opinion of the episode since I think I can word my feeling better now: The episode was not an enjoyable experience for me. The episode had to many unnecessary songs that could have been dropped to tell the story better. The only song I think was appropriate was Diamond's song after her mother yelled at her. When they made Twilight a Alicorn with a musical episode, fine, good whatever. But repeating that formula for the CMC seem like a poor choice. I know it's a kids show, but really I don't see that as an excuse. Verity is not a bad thing why does every super important moment need to be a bloody musical. I stated earlier that I wished that this ep and the Trouble Shoes ep were reversed. Now I've given more thought to that and I understand why they weren't given their cutie marks after that episode cause it would have been rewarding their bad behavior. However, using a musical episode to finally reward them with their cutie marks seems like an even worse decision. The Trouble Shoes ep had a good story and a good resolve. This episode had a good story, but it was drowned out by the songs. Maybe kids don't care their getting cheated, but most of the people on this site aren't kids. You can't expect us to react like kids do.
I never said it wasn't. The post of mine you quoted was a response to Dulset saying we got off-topic the week before. It's obvious that this episode had everything to do with cutie marks.
Hey guys, it would be appreciated if we could discuss opinions on the show in a positive and constructive manner, without attacking other people, ya know? You're allowed to like it or not like it as you please, but please don't tell other people that they are not allowed to dislike it. They are allowed to have their own opinions. And please, don't fill the thread with comments about how bad everything is. Saying you didn't care for it with an explanation of why should be enough, without responding to other people to tell them why they are wrong about the reasons they like the episode for. It's a fact of life that people will disagree with you; you don't have to force everyone over to your side or win any argument here. Just say what you thought and read what other people thought. It's that simple.
While I know what you mean and thank you for pointing this out, I do want to also stress that this is a discussion board, not an opinion board.
Yes, and there is little reason for the discussion of whether opinions are right or wrong. You can discuss the episode, but telling other people why they aren't allowed to think this or that, or that your opinion is the opinion to end all opinions, is not really 'discussion', or at least it's not the kind of discussion that is friendly and constructive. And that's sorta what we try to promote on the site.
